Had one of those rounds of golf that makes me wonder why I spend so much time and money doing it. Shot a perfectly respectable and undramatic 44 on the front 9, then completely fell apart and shot 57 on the back.

57 for 9 holes is my recent record.

I last played a round 18 months ago, so traumatised was I by my performances. I don’t expect to win but I do expect to be at least slightly competitive. And I was often the worst player in my group, or even the entire field if it was a comp. I feel pretty happy not playing… avoiding the angst and investing my time and money in other things. But, just recently, I’ve been eyeing up the course as I drive or walk past, and find myself thinking I might well give it another go at some point soon.

£35 fine for driving in a bus lane. Bang to rights - realised too late (pulling out of a side street near a main junction and needing to get across to the outside of three lanes with not a huge amount of road to play with).

Garbage disposal stopped working. Tried all the recommended cleaning and resetting and nothing. Power at the switch, so thought I’d get a new one and replace before calling in an electrician or plumber.
Uninstalled the original put the new one in and still nothing.
Uninstalled the new one and put the old one back and called an electrician as there seemed to be a problem somewhere between the wall switch and the end of the wiring.
Idly flicked the switch later that evening. Disposal started running.

Logged onto the website for the company that provides my pet insurance to change my home address, something I've been meaning to do for three and a half years since we moved here. It caused an automatic premium recalculation and dropped it by $25 a month. So my own laziness has cost me a grand.

I wouldn’t have thought changing address would impact pet insurance. Lower risk of traffic-dog interactions?

Possibly. Also I would guess lower risk of dog theft plus lower cost of local veterinary services.

I think you moved from city to countryside so I'd say it's the vet rates in the main.

New most hated bit of corporate speak: "double click", as in "I'd like to double click on that topic". It seems to be sweeping through my company right now.

One of my most hated, used repeatedly by my old boss, was describing some scheme or activity as 'washing its own face'.

An American used some phrase about (old?) sunflower seeds on a call with me today. No idea what he was on about. Anyone?
