It's a relatively new phenomenon for me, but after I cut pretty much all alcohol, dairy and meat out of my diet about 8 months ago, sugar is one of the few vices I have left. I don't eat a lot of it, a bag of gummy bears probably lasts a month but it's good to have on hand when I have a sweet craving. And my late night snack is a bowl of mixed nuts followed by a couple of squares of dark chocolate.

Meat, chocolate (either high cocoa dark or good quality white, weirdly I don't much like milk chocolate) pretzels and cheap maize based snack filth are my last vices (save for the now very occasional cheese night) as I approach the two year mark since my last cigarette.

I have cut processed meat right down though and often ponder the notion of going vegetarian. I'm not sure why I don't if I'm honest. I'm quite sure I wouldn't actually miss it that much anymore.

Processed meat is by far the most important group to cut out - mostly full of suboptimal or outright nasty chemicals, and always loaded with saturated fat.

I would struggle with being a proper vegetarian because I love fish and eat it three or four times a week - fresh salmon and trout, canned tuna, mackerel and sardines. TBF Mrs Russ isn't a proper vegetarian because she'll eat fish as well, although it's more like two or three times a month for her. I honestly don't miss meat at all, the only thing I crave is a plate of wings at the pub.

Cauliflower wings are great. All the battery goodness. No bones.

I'd go mammal free diet, but bacon.

What we need is for tricky to build a raspberry pi device that creates a spark the moment it vibrates. Attach it to a cow's anal sphincter and all that methane will combust leaving CO2 which isn't as bad.

I'm on the vegetarian trend line too, and have cut down on meat massively this last few years for environmental reasons (land use, mainly). I even switched my beloved chicken dhansak to chana or paneer. Tastes the same tbh.

We’re probably meat free four or five days out of seven, and have been drifting that way for years. Do like a steak though…

Cauliflower gives me belting wind and that will offset any benefit from not eating my 1/4 of a cow per year.

Born in Ashby, my Dad is a Leicester fan (boo) - he took me to a few Leicester games but a friend at school supported Forest so I did too, partly to be different (rebel accountant) - and coinciding with the glory European years didn't hurt.

I grew up in Ashby. Probably the same age as you. Became a Forest fan because of Clough I think. Father was a Wednesday fan but not particularly religious about it. Whole family is from Sheffield.

It's somewhat chastening catching up on folks healthy and moral lifestyle choices as I lie in bed post accidental Columbian fueled Tuesday night bender. Should be at a conference.

Too much of that in the past has led me unavoidably to where I am today. Your ability to find balance such that you're still able to do those things is to be applauded, not shamed.

In mundane annoying news, for some reason the shirt I am wearing today is chafing my nipples.

This could also go on the “too much information” thread. Or the “ I’ve been on this board for so long that I’ve become totally disinhibited” thread.

Now trying to sit down for a nice breakfast in Boston and feeling slightly sick thinking about Russ chafed nipples.

I have 121 client workouts scheduled for this week which is over 20 a day. (six day week). I may die.

    Chicago: Beyond knackered.

    Edit: Nipples are fine though.

My chafed nipples are currently in Tampa, which is way too hot and sweaty a place for chafing.
