Except for the Motorola Startac which was the bollocks in 1998.

I mean, it almost certainly wasn't, but it was flash as fuck at the time, which is alI was really in it for then, to be honest.

The only phone I ever really coveted was the Nokia 2112 or whatever it was called. The one from the first Matrix film that had a springloaded cover that slid open when you pressed a button.

I had the Nokia 7110 in the late 90s/early 00s, which was sort of similar.

Yeah I never got one but my mate Tony did. Admittedly didn't have quite the same level of cool in the hand of a fat balding lad from Manchester as it did Neo.

Haha that might be why that number popped into my head.

My first mobile was one of the motorola bricks. It met its end when I put it in the chest pocket of my overalls and bent over to pick up an opened gallon of white gloss… plop.

Its successor was one of the near indestructable Nokia bricks - but it met a similar end in a gallon of black gloss.

I later had a cool swivel camera phone… woodstain.

I haven’t dropped a phone in paint for a while. Which is some tempting of fate. Tbf though, I don’t wear overalls anymore.

Dishonourable mention to the single most SHITTEST phone aimed at mid to premium end, the Ericsson (pre Sony) T20 'World' phone.

No idea how I got talked into that c.2000.
I was probably distracted reading the monster trucks on TB arguing about David Platt.

    Anyway, it was awful.

I had a T20. It was tiny. Forgot it was in my jeans pocket when I threw them in the wash. I'd only had it two weeks, but the bastards at Phones4U in Vic Centre refused to replace it, despite me confirming it had been nowhere near water. They sent it off to be checked. I didn't pay the £25 to have it returned to me.

I think mine was from Phones4U in Horsham.

The rigid aerial was almost as big as the phone itself when closed.

When I say closed I mean the wanky thin bit of plastic in place over the keypad. Until the catch failed. Which didnt take long IIRC.

I had motorola flip as my first phone, then a nokia brick (leap forward), then a nokia communicator (huge leap forward), it's all rather stagnated after that.

The Nokia Communicator, the first device to ever be used to look at donkey bongo in the Larwood. Probably.
