Everybody knew well in advance that Corbyn was totally unsuited to leadership of a major political party. He had no substantial support in the parliamentary party. A change in the rules by which the labour party elected the leader at that time meant that is was effectively controlled by the 'membership'. you may recall that this was at a time subject to russian interference in the UK's electoral processes - as found by the intelligence community, in a report systematically suppressed under the tories, and post the election that same intelligence community were specifically instructed not to investigate further said russian interference. This was, it turns out, a key component in successfully executing russian foreign policy surrounding the UK and its relationship with europe, in conjunction with increased media propaganda, systematically promoting demonstrable lies over facts. Justified by some weird made up notion that promoting something demonstrably untrue in opposition to said facts is a form of desirable balance. While a substantial number of what appeared to look like paid malign actors (eg Lawrence Fox, Our 'Tommy', the frog faced farage fuckstick) stoking division, and promoting widespread disquiet and self-harm. To ultimately degrade the status of the UK and usher in at least a generation of reduced rights, prosperity, and influence.
You may believe that was an unfortunate confluence of unpredictable events. I do not.
We were the marks. We've been played, and the second phase grift is still ongoing.
The Left backed Starmer, by and large, because he's better than the alternative. Obviously there are loons on the left, as there are on the right and in the chin-stroking nihilist centre.
Most leftists supported the Democrats, even though genocide is bad.
And still the centrists will take some manufactured offence at a radical and sneer at progressive politics, while reaching out to the Right. It's bollocks.
It tends to be the centerists who are a bit tired of the culture of offence and are more motivated by pragmatism. You might see some eye rolling at the latest idealistic protestation with the most tenuous hold on reality. Most people are cunts. There's a necessity of pandering to their occasionally mentalists needs while trying to tweak towards the occasional bit of decency. The left absolutely has its place but, fuck me it's in a parlous state right now.
I very much disagree, but that's largely opinion, so fair enough.
It's a centrist tendency to latch onto a single wacky left voice and pretend that's all of them, and, to put on the tricky hat, those are the ones the media want you to hear.
