I’d go as far to say that’s what Nuno wants.

His cranky press conferences didn’t work so he decided to manage a game like that today.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 4:46 p.m.

A couple of weeks ago I would have said that's paranoid nonsense. Now I am not so sure. I would no longer be surprised if he went.

[Note, I am not saying I think it would be a good thing].

  • 31 Aug 2025, 4:48 p.m.

Tell me that you did see how terrible he was?

I imagine the conversation at half time was something like "... Any fucking chance you could actually get hold of the ball?".

Serious errors in everyone's game today. Not sure that's necessarily the managers fault. I mean, it might be like.... but how about eleven footballers go out on the pitch and actually have a crack at being footballers, whatever is going on?

They did a bit. Just not in the direction you might hope for. I didn't like the many touches to go round in a circle and go nowhere French one, but at least he didn't lose the ball cheaply. The others are not at the level.

Mind you, not many at the level today amongst the starters.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 4:53 p.m.

Yep. We lost the ball every time it went to him. He's not strong enough.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 5:08 p.m.

N’Doye was the only one making runs across the lines and he was getting free space. He didn’t really lose the ball. Not like Morgan or CHO. He got into positions to cross and no-one was there other than Wood. He was also fouled more than most.

He was definitely not the worst offender today.

We were flat, slow and side to side. Wet Sham we there for the taking and we seemed to want to play through them when they were set up very deep.

I would say that was worse than Leicester. At least we scored against them. Everything seemed so flat. The only player with aggression was Neco.

Also boy are we bad when we go behind. We lose all shape and Bowen more of less walked through us. In the first half their passes were non existent and they looked nervous. First goal is so crucial for us and we didn’t really have an attempt for most of the game. Although the ref didn’t help much in the first half either. Apparently only we were fouling.

Bad day at the office or something underlying?

    We shall find out .

I mean we lost the ball everytime it went to anyone, so it seems harsh to single out N’doye for this.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 5:16 p.m.

You may remember, even though not much good came of it, CHO running with the ball and checking and playing passes, Anderson and MGW trying to find each other (largely unsuccessfully), you might even remember wood laying off and occasionally getting involved in interplay down the left.

You won't have these memories for Ndoye.

    No. Just no.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 5:25 p.m.

Careful tricky, you sound like you're hoping for some Spanish dancing.

Ndoye was trying to create chances. None of them came off. Nobody else looked like creating any real problems.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 5:30 p.m.

I've said his movement is good, and I like that about him.

The problem, and it's a big problem, is that he can't get hold of the ball when he gets there. He doesn't lose it trying to do something. He just loses it trying to do anything - including running alongside a defender. Absolutely no use having movement if you can't get hold of the ball. It was one of Clough's non-negotiables.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 5:56 p.m.

I'd rather have a player out there consistently losing the ball in the act of trying to make things happen, than have a performance like CHO today doing his best Remo Freuler impression.

Bloody hell. I agree with Russ. I may have to lie down.

Monday is going to be an important day with deadline day and the big meeting with Nuno.

I just hope today was just a terrible terrible day that we can get out of our system. On the plus side. McAtee is very tidy. Definitely a number 10.

Morgan can always drop back or be subbed if he is having one of those games. His pass to Jesus said it all really. Just not his day.

That’s what squads are for. Let’s see what they do.

Chicago: Being bored silly by the Scouse and Arse game.

Edit: and then slobby-sky scores an absolute worldy free kick.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 6:14 p.m.

Okay batman. Tell me one thing he tried to do.

He didn't, he just got run off the ball.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 6:25 p.m.

    Ran between the lines.

Win more corners than the rest of the team. Got behind their defence more times than others. Got crosses in. Was positive. (I still Miss Elanga though).

Wasn’t terrible. The rest of the midfield were way more wasteful. (I understand they were trying to make things happen but were super sloppy)

I also understand that MGW, Anderson and CHO all had terrible games.

Anyway Kris Boyd as you were.

Chicago: Trying to put this behind me.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 6:39 p.m.

    Totally.

The question is which were 'bad game' problems, which attribute problems?

  • 31 Aug 2025, 8:04 p.m.

Was at Stature of Liberty when gene was on. So for me it never happened. Seems for the best.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 8:12 p.m.

We were really poor. I've never seen Gibbs-White give the ball away as much as he did today and far too many of them were below par.

You can't carry that many players in a Premier League fixture and expect to win. Another day, we might have scraped a 0-0 but we deserved absolutely nothing.
