We were really poor. I've never seen Gibbs-White give the ball away as much as he did today and far too many of them were below par.

You can't carry that many players in a Premier League fixture and expect to win. Another day, we might have scraped a 0-0 but we deserved absolutely nothing.

We finished the game with MGW, McAtee, Anderson and Hutchinson on the pitch. Not one of them has any interest in getting past a full back, it's way too easy to just sit back and let them try and pass through you before someone punts a hopeful cross onto the head of your centre-halves who have been dealing comfortably with it all day (I thought their Greek defender was excellent, btw).

On that note, three games in I have yet to see anything at all from Jesus that makes me think he might be a player at this level.

He's had ten minutes, ten minutes, and seventeen minutes. In the parts of games where everything has tended to get chaotic and desperate. He's hit the post with a good shot. I think you're being very rash with your judgement.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 8:47 p.m.

I haven't made any kind of judgement yet, but my point stands. He hasn't come on and looked like he's in danger of making any kind of difference to a game.

Except for nearly scoring the winner against Palace?

  • 31 Aug 2025, 8:55 p.m.

I just checked the record books and it appears that we in fact drew against Palace.

Not to sound like tricky, but he doesn't seem to have any particular strengths or qualities that cause tiring defenders any problems. He's not especially quick, or strong, or tall, he doesn't consistently make runs that put a marker on their heels, he doesn't seem to read the game in a way that gives him a head start. I'm sure some of that could come with time as he settles in the team, the league and the country, and I'm not suggesting we don't give him that time. He's just nowhere near the level right now as far as I can see.

You might be right. I just don't think there's enough evidence to make any decision either way. For example I thought he was decent when he started against Fiorentina in pre season. Few good turns and shots.

When the European games and cup games start coming thick and fast we'll find out I guess, as lots of these current fringe players are going to have to step up and put some 90 minute performances in.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 9:12 p.m.

You would hope that many of the European games don't require full 'ship levels of pace and power.

I'm hoping Hutchinson has some growing left to do. Though technically good, physically he looks miles off it to me. The rest look the sort that might get there in a year or so with some physical work.

  • 31 Aug 2025, 9:21 p.m.

Wouldn’t that require him to instruct the players to refrain from passing to each other?

  • 31 Aug 2025, 9:39 p.m.

I don't disagree, but he didn't look physically off it last year. He runs well with the ball and has good close control.

Seems a little reactionary to start criticizing players so soon in their Forest careers. Wood looked ropey when he first came here. As did Elanga. One they settled they were ace. N’Doye wasn’t pulling up trees in the first game but a lovely goal and was better against Palace and provided an incredible pass for CHO to score. He wasn’t great today but still better than our big three creative mids. McAtee is not a marauding winger but would probably be great as a 10. Hence that is why I think we are after a Elanga/line hugging type.

It’s going to take a while.

Having said all that. We were all off it today so doubt the subs could have done worse. Still a fan of Taiwo. Pity he is probably for the knackers yard.

    Chicago: Trying to be patient.

I understand the response, I turned the TV off in annoyance when Sangare gave away the pen. However, I agree with Chic, probably a bit early to be worrying too much. The performance was atrocious, but this is why Nuno was complaining about the lateness of the transfer activity. It will take time to integrate the new players. If this is still happening in October, then I'll start to worry.

I hope that whoever took a turn in the BC stand at the start of the second half is ok.
