There are dozens of Trump supporters trying to do violence to their opponents. It’s just really fucking hard to actually carry out anything meaningful and most the people dumb enough to think among the lines you suggest are far to dumb to do it.

If I'd seen the headline 'Presidential candidate in assassination attempt' I would totally have assumed it was a Trump MAGA nutjob trying to off Biden. Have the 'Trump staged it' theories started yet? Or has the actual death of a spectator kiboshed that?

Well for one there would be a high chance it would get exposed which would create a scandal like no other, even Watergate.

Nobody gets their ear shot off on purpose never mind in a campaign where the presidency has turned into a Least Senile Wins Contest where all Trump probably has to do is turn up and hope Biden does too to win it.

If there was anything in that do you think the sitting President would put themselves out there condemning it as "sick" and wishing Trump well? Or are those providing his intelligence briefings inferior to a bunch of randoms from the Internet.

The guy who did it dying is pretty solid evidence that it wasn’t staged, though. Secret service isn’t answerable to Trump and they look pretty incompetent with this shooting.
