I think it's fan art from a Youtube channel that describes itself thusly: "This channel aims at fighting back against cultural spiritual warfare that we are all engaged. We take a Biblical perspective about everything because we understand."

I have no idea why Chic would watch, or worse share, that drivel.

Note that whilst the court quickly and decisively dealt with the Colorado case, the case to determine whether Trump has immunity for all his crimes has been schedule as late as possible to pretty much guarantee that when he loses it (which he will) it will be too late for his actual criminal trial to be conducted and decided prior to the election.

That is deliberate, and all we need to know that none of this is about actually trying to do things in good faith.

Trump shouldn’t be on the ballot because he tried, via various means, to overthrow an election result. Even if Jan 6 can’t be pinned on him, the fact that he was openly trying to get state and federal officials to do corruption to keep him in power should be more than enough. That’s not a guy who should be president. And there is a clause in the constitution saying as much. Trying to enforce that is not remotely “similar to some of the complaints about Trump.“

    Because it's so fucking mental.

And the people are eating it up. Well at least the morons (and there are a lot of them..). It was actually texted to me. I have no idea why but it made me want to buy a gun, barbed wire and hide in my home in a newly constructed shelter. Or. was it a parody? Unfortunately I don't think so. Totally for the evangelicals...

Yep, this election is going to be all types of mental. Apparently the polls say Trump is miles ahead. Luckily the polls are all really really wrong. (I hope).

Anyway sane vs insane the rematch. I hope there is a lot of sport on this year...

Chicago: Not actually on social media/ (unless you count this place...)

Happy to confirm that there's nothing social about this place, you absolute fucking bellend.

    Noted..

    Chicago/ Feeling special.

Also worth mentioning… the constitutional rule in play here is part of the post-civil war ‘Reconstruction’ period when the federal government (and country) decided they needed to take some chunks out of state power.. cos, y’know, a whole bunch of states were really insistent on have the right to own black people etc.

So this ruling does legitimately follow that notion. States should not have the power to fuck with federal elections.

But, of course, thanks partly to conservative courts.. states have loads of power to fuck with federal elections. And to do whatever the fuck else they want to do if it adheres to the political objectives of the republicans… So, again, even if it’s probably the right answer.. it’s a total con job.

Trump guilty of falsifying business records. Not that it will matter in the slightest.

  • 30 May 2024, 10:12 p.m.

Officially he's guilty of falsifying business records. In the public eye he's guilty of having sex with a porn actress, lying about it, and covering it up. It won't make a difference to his cult members and it won't make a difference to the people who already want nothing to do with him, but polls have repeatedly said that if he's convicted of felonies it would put off large swathes of independent voters.

RCP average is currently Trump +0.9. www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/general/2024/trump-vs-biden

Let’s see where they are in a week.

I find it incredible that this might be the thing that puts "centrist" voters off Trump.

"Up until now, I wasn't 100% sure what to think about this guy, but now I find he's been falsifying business records..."

Sentencing July 11th, 4 days before the Republican National Conference where he'll be confirmed as their candidate. And based on what we've seen so far, I doubt Merchan will go soft on the sentencing.

When it comes to politics, I’m reliably informed that the majority of US voters aren’t.
