Significantly improved mobile experience.
Totally agree, much better from my phone.
The misago author has put in a very significant shift over the last few months. (You might want to star his github)
It's thanks to him that many of the reasonable issues raised by people here, have been substantially addressed.
I think it's starting to come together quite pleasingly.
The underlining unread thread functionality was a stopgap measure until we had a more satisfactory unread thread notifier.
We now have a blue (or not) dot next to the thread name to indicate it's read/unread status.
I have therefore removed the thread title underlining on unread posts in a thread...that a few of you were ambivalent at best about.
Thank you for the reminder/suggestion in regard to that.
We can set the period that threads notify as having unread posts, before automatically reverting to read.
The advantage of that is that a periodic visitor doesn't have the annoying problem of having more threads marked as unread, than they can reasonably be bothered to read.
So what is a sensible period to mark a thread as unread, if it hasn't been read?
1 day, 1 week, 1 month?
My instinct is to err towards a smaller number, because I read pretty much every post, ever day...but I would be interested to hear from less regular visitors, and what would be a useful behaviour for them.
A week sounds reasonable to me
Am I alone in finding the new theme/upgrade has really cluttered up the homepage? I enjoyed the simplicity of it the way it was.
I'm sympathetic to the view. After a lot of work it now has the sort of information, and links, that many respondents specifically felt were missing from the experience of the old board. We could go around and around with that.
Personally I like the new look and feel, and the reality is that I'm not going to go to a lot of effort to remove functionality from every new version of the software.
You quickly learn that not everyone is going to agree about this sort of thing. You'll get used to it.
I can't even remember the old theme. I am crap as a reviewer.
I wish I could click on the blue dot to go to the first unread reply. I keep trying to.
Me too.
Once I've read the last page of the unread thread, and return to the home page, the blue dot is still there.
I've return via 'return to home at the bottom' and by clicking 'threads' link at tbe top. I have also checked that thete hasn't actually been a new post in the interm few seconds.
Could be my tablet / phone. I suppose.
Anyway, that aside, good work on continuing to giver wayward mongs a place to gather and mock Jim.
I'm not seeing that, unless there is a further page of unread posts that I haven't noticed, beyond the first unread post.
Weirdly, I've just noticed the blue dot will dissappear if I post on that thread, but not if I simply read it.
Refresh the browser. If that doesn't work, log out, and log back in.
Refreshing is not working and I can't be bollocksed to log out and in again everytime I read a post... I'm not that arsed about it, it's more of an observation. Although I could try using a different device (I dont really see how that might help but I'm curious). ....
I am not seeing that behaviour. There are no reports of anyone else seeing that behavior.
You are. Can't be arsed to do anything about it, and keep banging on about it.
Thanks for the heads up.
My blue dot disappears when I've read all the posts in the thread, as it should (using a mobile) so it's definitely working correctly for some of us.
Also, clicking the title of the tread with the blue dot still takes me to the first new post just like it always did. No need to actually click the blue dot itself.
It's just not underlined anymore (and I agree we don't need two lots of indicators that there's new posts, the blue dot is better)
