Better than Liverpool, anyway. Bed time, I think.

We know from having seen it that if you take that side and swap out a few for significantly better players (e.g. MGW) and let it play together every week.. it’s maybe just about good enough to not get relegated from the PL.

You send out that side knowing that the most likely outcome is that it is about enough to get through. Throw in two errors leading to goals and you’re in bother and lucky to go through at all, let alone without having to expose your better players to something you’d rather not.

A calculated risk that didn’t pay off, but we’re still in it and I expect a very different approach against Ipswich unless the club officially doesn’t think it’s worth trying to win the cup.

Possibly the biggest problem was 77% possession. We just aren't used to it.

But the ones who will play at the weekend only really played a half, so not too bad.

Taiwo is a loss, how long are you automatically out with concussion?

    A week I think.

Valuable training session. There's a tendency to think that not doing anything is best. It's not. Some ongoing running around and kicking to maintain levels is necessary. Some game time is best.

The key is to manage the overall physical load to keep players in the ideal zone. Nuno and his team appear to be excellent at that.

A couple of you have alluded to it. We don't know what to do against a defensive team that hasn't left space for us. We get the ball into the box but not the players to pick up the second ball.

Bye bye Temu Grealish. That joke isn't quite so funny now.

Well Eric de Silva Moriera looks a shell of the player who played in the league cup. Jota Silva was absolutely wank. He was annoying the shit out of me. Taiwo and Sangare were very good in the first half and Danilo doesn’t tackle but he sure can pass. Sosa has ability but I think his lack of understanding English probably was the fuck ip when it came to the pass he should have sent to MGW. That was pretty terrible but he was still better than Jota.

Yatesy seemed off his game which for a game like this is something. Miquel had a nightmare and we could have actually lost.

Awful for Taiwo but nobody passed to him in the second half which was weird. Moreno was poor but Toff’s was fine.

A dreadful game really. We should have bossed the second half by passing Exeter to death. Without Milenkovic and Murillo we are dreadful at set pieces.

File under wet Tuesday night in Exeter and move on.

Bloody rubbish but hopefully a rocket for the Fulham game.

At least we are home in the next round.

    Chicago: Knackered.

I would go this far for set pieces. Otherwise it's just last season again.

I really don't like MGW's stuttery run up - apart from when he did it in the play off semi.

At least he’s stopped doing the jump.

It’s quite impressive that nearly 3 hours after we started, they are still managing to under hit so many passes.

The one reasonable excuse is how shit the pitch was.

Well yes, but the point was I’d have thought after nearly 3 hours they may have worked out the need to hit it slightly harder
