Just a space-filling word salad really. Describing the shoot-out as a 'lottery' but then going on to explain the obvious preparation carried out by the Forest coaching staff for the goalkeepers was amusing, if predictable.
Seeing as 94/95 seems the obvious comparison for this season, I went back and checked how we did in the FA Cup that year.
Beat Plymouth at home 2-0 in round three (Gemmill, Collymore) to set up another home tie against Crystal Palace in round four, which we lost 2-1 (goal from Bohinen).
I sort of assume that everyone does about the same preparation (at least premier league clubs, I'd guess Exeter don't have the same level of analysis available), but it still comes down to the ability to execute under pressure, such is what good players do. When Hinshelwood took their third (best practice is to go in ranked order), I thought we stood a pretty good chance.
I must say that when Tricky asked who would you choose for our penalties that I'd forgotten Anderson and Milenkovic had both taken penalties previously. I guess when you've had as many as we've had it's hard to remember all of them. 4 shoot outs in one season, by Crowded Fixture Schedule.
Agreed, but it's still daft (and lazy) to still be describing the shoot-out as a 'lottery' like people were 20-30 years ago when no side seemingly prepared for them in any way.
