Woot!
Sosa woot!
Last season - a triple substitution at 2-0 with 15 minutes to go.
This season - a quadruple substitution at 2-0 with 15 minutes to go.
Hopefully not the same outcome...
I don't see the point in risking those players
I see the point in giving key players a run out to keep match fitness with no need to over exert themselves.
Fair enough, but it's not as though they haven't played in ages and the next game is weeks away
It is a case that they won't have played for 8 days by the time they face Liverpool and you may imagine that Nuno thinks the forward unit would benefit from that little bit of match sharpness
Solid 2-0 win with a completely new starting X1 from Wednesday night and Talkback is having a disagreement about subs in the last 10 minutes, never change people.
SofaScore MOTM was Carlos Miguel, the only player to score more than 8. 6 saves to the Luton keeper's 1.
We had 11 shots to their 8, though 5 of ours from outside the box to their 2. 3 big chances each.
We're we really a solid 2-0 win? I've not seen the game.
We looked like what we were, which was a load of much better players that didn’t look much like a team. The two wingers are pretty busy, but they don’t half make bad decisions. And while I don’t mind 3 at the back I think it has to be accompanied by 3 in midfield, otherwise there’s a bit of a hole in the middle of the pitch. Still, the objective was a straightforward win and a bit of rest for key players so job done.
They managed to completely screw up the Bridgford End though. Who’d have thought there would have been a bit of ice around? And no comms to anyone in the queue unless it was actively sought out. Shambles that they didn’t delay kick off - we got in after about 15-20 mins but others were coming in 5 minutes before half time.
Always felt comfortable to me. None of Miguel's save were anything more than straightforward. And their keeper watched a Yates shot go over his head and ping of the bar.
I didn’t hear the game, but caught a summary on 5live which described it as a comfortable 2 nil win.
It was comfortable. Felt very routine, professional and I doubt nuno could have asked for much more.
Got back in to the car to hear Danilo being interviewed by Colin Fray. Bless him.
Agreed. Main objectives were to qualify for round four with a minimum of fuss (no extra time), give the second string a run-out (including Danilo ideally) and not pick up any injuries ahead of Tuesday.
Mission accomplished, I'd say.
Probably more about resting the players who went off. All the subs (bar Abott and Danilo) were first XI players there in case we needed a boost to win the game.
Barry is a first team player when fit. That kid is going to be special if he can stay healthy.
Yeah, we didn’t get out of first gear. Ryan Yates was fun to watch but Morato was quality. He owned the Poo-Ton forwards.
Sosa is very talented but a bit of a spaz. He does some really good things (cross for Yates. Score) and then has the touch of a rapist. He is basically an over-excitable kid.
Was lovely to see Danilo on. The four sub change was a little disconcerting. I wish we had kept Taiwo on as it would have done him good to maybe get a couple of more chances. He was calm to start with. Nice layoffs. Good link up play. His finishing had a lot to be desired though and I think if he got one thunderbastard in then he would take off. Oh well. Nuno knows best.
Toff’s and Ryan showed some good range of padding and Jota was just Jota. A pain in the arse.
Chicago: Satisfied.
