There is never an excuse for that
There is never an excuse for that
Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn
We and Palace are interested in signing Ismaila Sarr from Marseilles.
Danny Taylor says we are in for Riquelme Fillipi - winger from Palmeiras academy and Brazil youth international.
There’s an echo in here, eh Chic?
Report this morning that Palmeiras have accepted the offer, now up to the player.
Che Adams is joining Torino.
It's a long way from Il'son.
Che Adams is joining Torino.
Bullet dodged
Adams is right in the sweet spot of players I wouldn't be unhappy if they joined and won't be unhappy if they don't.
After watching him "lead" the Scottish front line in the Euros, I thought he was exactly the sort of ineffective frontman we would sign.
"lead" the Scottish front line
That's a serious 'push this massive boulder up Everest' assignment.
He's nowhere near good enough for what we are aspiring to be, and we have moved beyond the point where we need to be signing fillers to plump out a threadbare squad with no top level experience.
That’s one way of looking at it, sure. Another is that we’re seeking to attract a forward whose immediate prospect is probably to be No.3 in the pecking order (in a side that plays 1 up front a lot of the time), and without spending vast sums. Yet our fans are demanding “a proven goal scorer with PL experience”.
Good luck with squaring that particular circle of incompatible criteria.
I’m with Mangetout; I wouldn’t have been especially upset if he’d joined but am losing not one second of sleep because he hasn’t
I agree we aren't likely to get a proven goalscorer with PL experience, unless it's someone like a Danny Ings type on the slide or we spend a lot on Nketiah or something. We might be able to get another Awoniyi-type from another league though who is better value.
Leaves the way clear for Chuba Akpom or Michy Batshuayi.
