I made the mistake of speaking up in support of the guy ahead of me in the bag search queue. This was my first mistake & made me a marked man; once I got into the ground I was confronted by 4 bouncers (essentially), who asserted (though none of them had seen the bag search queue, which was outside) that I’d thrown a bottle at a steward (bollocks; the nearby policeman would surely have noticed if I’d done any such thing) & thus “endangered” the steward. I responded with incredulity (second mistake). Instead of trying to de-fuse the situation, the lead bouncer appeared to take considerable glee in threatening to eject me. I then swore at him (third mistake) as he threw me out. I have driven for 7 hours today & didn’t see a single ball bowled.
Notts CCC will be getting an incandescent email from me tomorrow - but I confidently predict they will repeat the crap about me throwing bottles & say the safety of their staff takes precedence over everything else.
They actively welcome people getting beered up in fancy dress singing football songs, but only if the beer is sold inside the ground. An old gentleman (not me; the guy ahead of me in the queue) trying to take a half bottle of low-alcohol wine in, however, apparently merits Ejection.
I have been going to Trent Bridge since 1966, when my Dad (born in Musters Road) first took me. Until today I have always found it a friendly, happy place, but this morning has left a very nasty taste. No, I shouldn’t have sworn at him, but he’d already told me he was throwing me out by that point…
Assume it was the green jacket bellends that did this?
I was ejected from the WFCG in my late teens. We had a player sent off late on against Watford and I was making wanker gestures toward the ref. I was then grabbed by the hood and marched out by that Gareth Keenan lookalike steward in A Block. I then had my photo taken for ‘inciting the away fans’ pointing out my hand gestures were towards the ref and that there were no away fans didn’t really help.
I learnt from my behaviour and now save the wanker gestures for the big games.
DT in T'Athletic is saying we are keen on a 17 year old Brazilian - Riquelme Fillipi - but we couldn't get him until Jan as he isn't 18 until September.
