I know nothing about him at all, but the thing about Eliot Anderson which makes me sceptical of his quality is he doesn't seem to have been able to even get into the Scotland squad for the Euros.
I don't think so. There's no way a player of his experience would be considered good enough to replace MGW. If we sell MGW there will be a bigger signing coming in to replace him. Nuno and the club (look at who the owners on has on his shirt) idolise MGW and recognise that 80% of our attacking play goes through him and that without that we'd be even worse. Reyna was signed on loan out of fear that MGW got injured. If we made a decision to sell MGW there would be a big Reyna-scale signing in an attempt to replace him. It could yet happen this year but I don't think Anderson signals it, and I think it's more likely he will be with us until he passes the next phase of his development (which may involve scoring some goals) and there is proper big interest. That's probably a window or two away.
One thing we know about them is they are even more daft than our fans in terms of level of ambition and unrealistic expectations. Gone are the days when we have a press office which dresses up Danny Sonner as the ulster Pirlo.
The German lad is a genuine high level prospect from what I have read about his impact in the German national youth teams.
(And I don't think 10m net for Elanga on this Anderson chap plus the fairy godmother magicking away any residual PSR issues would necessarily be a great deal for us on the face of it, given their respective seasons / impact last year but I say that in relative ignorance of how good or bad Anderson is. Be nice if they could chuck Lewis Hall or Callum Wilson in the mix).
