Not really. We knew our financial position a year ago. We could project our income over the coming (this current PSR reporting) accounting period.

We could have chosen to plan to be within the limits, given the period spans three transfer windows in which we have been active.

Hence "kind of". As of January we couldn't do as much as we might have wanted to address PSR because of the strife we were in. And the club might have thought there was wriggle room until there was an actual points deduction.

But we definitely should have been attempting to play within the rules since <checks watch> the moment we joined the organisation that had those rules. Much as I remain a Sangare optimist, it really does feel like one of the worst transfers in history, because it shows a contempt for those rules we were actively breaching.

Everton’s initial 10 point deduction was announced in November. That should have set alarm bells ringing, especially as we already knew we were breaching for the period ending in 2023.

The rules are bogus and unfit for purpose. Clearly they are no more suited to achieving the stated objectives than the laws of the game are theirs. But if you choose to join up, you have a responsibility to be a good citizen. Repeated flouting of the rules is to be expected from a non-sporting foreign asset accumulation operation not really being adequately addressed by the normal shit vacillating governance of the game.

It's depressing. The club was inept/nefarious to an unpleasant degree.

We are apparently close to signing an Argentinian 21 year old called David Quint. Argentina under 21 international midfielder. Plays for Boca Juniors reserves, compared to Riquelme and once linked with Man U and Arsenal which could mean absolutely anything of course.

Lot of assumption here that we have competent accounting team capable of calculating our forecast position. And even if so, with the skills to convince an overbearing owner of that position.

Of course they know the position. It's a business decision. Nothing personal.

As I said your confidence in accountants is admirable and as one (though don't do any actual counting any more) I am grateful for the vote of confidence in the profession

It wasn't a massive vote of confidence. I could make a reasonable stab at it.

Not seen this anywhere. Another defensive midfielder. No mention in news feeds so you must of got this off the twatter.

Anyway, have we sold anyone yet? That Freuler bloke could make us some money right?

If we sign Quint then we have a ready-made inappropriate song for him in "Farewell and adieu, you ladies of Spain".

Do we really need him? Is Quint essential?

  • trickylens

What can he actually do, in Quint essence?

Because no one wants to play with us presumably.
