They are changing soon anyway, but I believe the intent behind freezing the allowable losses at £35m is to taper clubs' overspending. They are supposed to be aiming to break even.

Is a possible interpretation:
Largely unestablished clubs overspending to try to avoid step change drop in income. Established clubs taking a profit.
So the difference between the income of the top clubs, and the drop off in income from the next step of the pyramid, is the real problem?
CHO going to Spurs doesn’t sound realistic to me. Yes he's done well this year, but that is in the context of him having done nowt in the 3 years prior and looking like his achilles might be shot, he has still only started 20 games. I would have thought he needs another season under his belt to be attracting top 6 clubs. Of course if they do want to spend a tonne of cash on him despite this, fine we should sell.
Think it was a 50% sell on fee for Chelski with CHO which is why they let him go so cheap.
If we sell him, he needs replacing. Is it worth it for only half of whatever fee? (Assuming the sell on is accurate).
Romano reports that
Nuno Tavares
Ribiero
Gio Reyna
Montiel
Origi
All returning to parent clubs and no buy options will be triggered.
Toodle pip.
All very disappointing signings. Tavares looked like he was getting a way of playing with CHO at one point but that never developed and Aina is much better. We need some more fullbacks though. Interesting Lodi has already left Marseille for Saudi, he was decent.
Reyna particularly disappointing as he was once looking very very good at Dortmund but we got nothing out of him. And whay was the point in Ribiero.
We do make some good signings, but these weren't them.
Scott Mckenna ?
Definitely. There have always been big clubs and smaller clubs, those that could buy up talent and those who have had to sell to balance the books, but the gap has been close enough that some good leadership could close it, at least for a time. The gap is too big now and everyone is behaving dysfunctionally to try to close it. The rules are aimed (loosely) at the behaviour, but the problem is the gap.
Club confirm Aina for another year.
Hooray!
Kouyate, Hennesy and Felipe gone too. Bye bye lads.
Might be a good time to get him on a 2-3 year deal.
Another year for Boly confirmed.
Presumably not for him..... isn't he deceptively old? 27/28? If so he probably doesn't want to be contracted out of a (last?) bigger money deal than we are offering.
Despite my initial reservations over his defensive instincts, he now looks like he can play up.
Didn't know he was that old but you're right. Looks like a very good player to me. Fast down the wing and at getting back and stopping trouble, good right foot cutting in, stands up nicely surveying play before spraying his passes quarterback style. Certainly looks very good in a 3 at the back formation. One concern is he has maxed out at around 20 games a season in recent years, though this year he had AFCON. If he's fit and plays he's our left back, but I think we're going to need another one too as Toffolo is probably not good enough to be a regular starter. Or at least more cover on the right, as Neco can play left back well too.
If we made an improved offer on a longer contract you’d think he think he would consider. He might get injured/bad form/not play much which wouldn’t help him with his next contract.
I would hope that triggering the extension just gives us time to sort out a longer term deal without an imminent deadline.
