Nineteen-year-old James Clarridge has joined Watford on a permanent deal.
A few years ago (U16 maybe), he was incredibly highly rated, in his England age group squad and tipped for the top.
However, missed about a year (maybe more) with a bad injury and never really got back to that level.

So it would appear that we did actually try for David De Gea

Well it would have been rude not to given we tried all the others.

Are we actually getting any dosh for Aurier I wonder?

Not sure that De Gea would work for us. They get used to the legendary 'protection' that manure keepers get from the officials. I hear that their current one twatted someone again last night, after twatting someone in the earlier reverse fixture. That's a very significant point swing just against one opponent.

What's the correct terminology here? Is 'swing' correct for a punch that miraculously remains unseen by onfield and storecupboard officials? Or are we going with cheating bent game?

Serge officially gone. He was better for us than I thought he'd be. Seems a good sort, but not fussed he's gone.

Was the best RB defensively at the club. But the weakest going forward.

Was he? Okay, not all the time...but there was a period where his delivery was mint. Better than anything else we've seen. I would have liked to see him as one of three centre-halves playing up at the half way line (Niakahte and Murillo the others).

I get the feeling the Dominguez and Montiel come as part of a package. I would wrap them up tightly in tape, and post them somewhere else, personally. And keep Aurier. But I bow to the 'superior judgement' of our 'recruitment team'.

Aurier made a real difference to us when we were struggling last season. He's has the engine, defends very aggressively and he crosses well. He wasn't quite as good for us this season as last, but he was still our best right back. Still, farewell.

I haven't liked anything about Montiel so far. Neco is getting better though.

Domínguez looks decent to me in midfield.

I never really thought that much of De Gea but I'm sure he would have been better than what we had. I know nothing about whether he's better than Alkaseltzer because I'd never even heard of him until about two days ago. Fingers crossed.

Worrall's fuck up for the equaliser against Luton seems to have ended his time here. Weird that Serge's worse screw up for the first was forgotten quickly.

We have 4 right backs, something had to give, even allowing for two of them being highly adaptable. I'd have binned Montiel but Serge has been much worse this season than last and maybe he can't get back to his best.

You can get away with making a howler once in a while if you're generally above average. Aurier was and is a much better player than Joe.

Regarding Ribeiro, a player has to spend three years in a country before they turn 21 to be regarded as home grown. He’s 18, so I’d guess the potential future benefit to Mendes is for the player to be home grown for English football. Maybe I’m wrong, but I can’t see how a player with his record will be a factor for us this season.

If he’s registered at Forest and then spends some time on loan. Say at a Greek club…

Would that time still count towards ‘home grown’.

I think it would. I’ve read that Taiwo is home grown even though he spent those Liverpool years on loan across Europe.
