As his contract is up in the summer, overseas clubs (i.e. Fenerbache) can sign him on a free transfer from January can't they. Whereas British clubs have to wait until the summer to do that. Though British clubs can of course buy him in January if they wanted.

I expect he'll wait until the summer then go on a free transfer to Celtic, Rangers or one of the upper Championship clubs, picking up a large salary due to the zero transfer fee.

McKenna and Horvath are the obvious 2 contracted players to get rid of. Guess we'd also be looking for loans for Omobamidele, Aguilera and, maybe, Neco.

Along with getting shot of some of the inbound loans should create some space for a few attackers.

Although I guess Afcon is a factor with potentially seven players unavailable (Sangare, Boly and Aurier with the Ivory Coast, Aina and Awoniyi with Nigeria and Kouyate and Niakhate with Senegal).

I actually went through to see how many games they'd actually miss. Good news is that the premier league winter break (30th Dec - 20th Jan) is our friend.

AFCON groups are 13th-24th Jan; Group of 16 27th-30th; QF 2nd-3rd Feb; SF 7th, Final 11th.

Nigeria and Ivory Coast are in the same group, Senegal top seeds in their group. Think they'd all expect to be in the quarters, if not the semis.

We play FA cup 3rd round on 6th Jan - assume they'll all miss that and Brentford away on the 20th and, if relevant, the FA cup 4th round on the 27th (5 day gap after the last group game for Ivory Coast/Nigeria, 4 days for Senegal - not worth the risk, even if they are knocked out).

The Arsenal home on the 30th, so likely they all miss that. Bournemouth away on 3rd Feb, so we miss any quarter finalists (which means, with the players likely to be away, not much chance we let Neco Williams go out on loan) and finally Newcastle away on the 10th, so we probably miss any semi-finalists (unless the game was pushed back to the Monday?).

There is nothing I like more than the Christmas football schedule. Now a winter break to go with those Noncy European leagues? Fuck the Premier League. I love christmas/New Years football.

    Stupid fucking sport.

    Chicago: Soon to be bored.

The break starts on 30 December, so it doesn't really effect the Xmas games.

Errr New Year’s Day and the frantic week slightly after that and the F.A. Cup.

    Other than that….

    Chicago: Grouching.

Nottingham Forest Brazilian central defender Felipe is now linked as a potential option for Olympiacos this winter transfer window.

Thoughts on that #OlympiacosFC fans? Could Felipe become the first #NFFC transfer to actually do something in Greece? 🔴⚪️🇧🇷

Presumably that means Nino is a done deal. I'm sad though.

    Not necessarily Nino but Nuno.

How many Brazilian and Portuguese players through the door January?

    I say 4-5

    Chicago: Punching the calculator.

At least we should get a better standard of over-priced Portuguese players now we're a top flight side, rather than the hugely over-priced youngsters with potential(!) Mendes foisted on us in the Championship.

We will hopefully benefit from a manager who’s well experienced with Mendes and better able to spot if we’re being taken for a ride (which is one possible explanation for what happened last time).

They're best buddies, if we're being taken for a ride he's part of it. At Wolves there was talk of overpaying for clients to increase the take, but at the same time they also got the best players in the stable, so pros and cons I suppose.

Podence from Olly in January seems quite likely to me.

He’s there on loan so we’d have to buy him from Wolves, if the Oly deal allows him to go back in Jan.

  • JimShadypanorama_fish_eye

    Ah I didn't appreciate that.

Maybe Oly could sub-let him to us.
