I'm unconvinced the current version of Awoniyi counts as a striker. Hopefully he'll be like a new signing in a few weeks.

If we've not lost MGW or Murillo as appears to be the case frankly that's better than probably most of us feared 2 months ago. The new signings look promising (we should all collectively ease the chimp tugging though - most of them have only played one game - why is it like markets fans have such a tendency to massively over react be it to good or bad?). We have a better goalkeeper than this time last year. Better centre halves and better fullbacks. The midfield has players can run and pass. And we have at least two pacey wingers with great natural talent who are young and seem to be on the up. Add to that an aged Kiwi goal-machine and Big T as a wildcard and, whatever else it may be, it's comfortably the best squad we've had since we've been in the Premier league.

Mighten has gone to the MLS on a permanent transfer. Seems like we’ve still got Hwang and Dennis of the “never going to get near a pitch” group. Although I believe Saudi is possible until Monday.

What's the squad situation? Might be we tempted to register Dennis if there's space?

I make it 23 we definitely want to register (plus, maybe Danilo makes 24). I thought last season it was said you can’t leave space if you have contracted players, in which case Dennis would make it.

I’m surprised and pleased they’ve been brave enough to have an under 21 third choice keeper, whichever of Man City chap and Bott end up travelling.

Has to be said, for all our talk about a more restrained window, we’ve still signed 11 players, which is one of the highest in the division (only Chelsea, Ipswich and Southampton, by my reckoning).
