Not sure. It's clearly not a shocker but he goes over the ball and catches him in the ankle with his studs. Doesn't strike me as an obvious error. Definitely far worse tackles, though.

It's the same tackle. I think the Maguire decision is closer to being the correct one. It's an orange card offence, and definitely not worthy of a three match ban.
I think most players would say that's a bad 'un. He's gone over the ball, and left his studs up to hurt someone. Whether intentional or otherwise, it's not good. I would say shocker - those 'tackles' are potential leg breakers.
I know everyone on here thinks the sun shines out of his arse, but Murillo wasn't good today. A competent defender does not let that first goal get scored.
I'm not sure that many think that he's a competent defender. He's got great attributes and promise...but when you buy a player that has hardly any senior appearances, never mind at the level, there's always going to be a learning curve. Hopefully.

Competent defenders make mistakes too. Especially when young.
I thought he should have had a break (and he proceeded to play some of his best defensive football after that), but a bad game doesn't make him incompetent.
Agreed. When he signed, I presumed we might see him a handful of times in the cup while he settled himself in. As it happens, he's done pretty well and played most, if not all, games when fit.
Clearly not the finished article, and may not even be a centre-back, but I think most would say he's been largely pretty impressive (without being the second coming of Baresi).

Im one of his biggest fans, but yeah he struggled today. Didn't get a lot of support from midfield or his partner though
Probably important to recognise that Villa are one of the best teams in the league. We didn't just lose because we got things wrong, we also lost because they're better than us.

Top 4 team at home. We are far from shit (even though it sounds like we started poorly), but they are an excellent team.
Yes they are...but we did help them today.
I'm still fuming about that first goal....talk about a gift of an early settler.
Is it progress to lose 4-2 rather than 2-0?
Does a bad game make Murillo not competent? Seems harsh.
I guess we drew the second half? Straws clutched.
We won the last hour 2-1.
In a league where "goals scored" is a thing, then 2-4 is better than 0-2. FACT!
