They earn a fortune, what have they got to be depressed about?

What an intelligent and articulate young man.

What a dreadful life experience. Remember this young man is the single ice crystal at the tip of the iceberg, and a great example of why a strong and caring society is critical to provide support and opportunity to all, to really get the best of our resources.

Try to think of all those children who are not Dele Ali.

Just starting to watch this now. He comes across really well.

I'm sort of glad (not really glad) there's actually a reason. Always thought he was the kind of talent we rarely produce and to come through an unfavoured side was quite a thing. Couldn't understand why he seemed to be pissing it all away. Hopefully he can find some joy in football again because when he plays at the level he can for your team, you tell your grandkids about it.

..it's interesting. When I heard it, I immediately thought about Pennant. He's now on talksport, and is telling a broadly similar story (which let's face it, we already knew in nottingham).

Think about all the kids below the peak of this pyramid, who aren't brilliant at football.

Different reason (& different level of talent), but I still feel slightly guilty about slagging off Nigel Quashie during his underwhelming time at Forest. Only later did I find out that he was going through horrendous personal things at the time - death of a child, IIRC.

Footballers are human beings who happen to be gifted with a football.

Sure we've all been guilty of this. There's probably an element of 'Championship Manager' thinking in most fans, see also: expecting young overseas players signed from foreign clubs to hit the ground running from day one.

Ditto Harry Arter, though not actually here.

And with overseas players it's not just young ones, we have some friends who are neighbours to one of our overseas players and it doesn't take long talking to them to understand that the complications are numerous and significant.

If we’re treating them like human beings though, then a good bunch of them are also just cunts.
