I missed the first half hour or so, but saw his movement at least as ok. I can accept that was far from reflective of his overall efforts.

Cool. If you want more of it, we're going to need to be in the Premier League. Barring an improbable Cup run it's pretty much impossible to qualify for Europe from the Championship.

Also, I suspect those old enough to remember it have pretty special memories of us winning the League in '78.

  • 6 Nov 2025, 8:45 p.m.

We are never winning the Premier League in any of our lifetimes

I thought he was ok, he’s played about an hour of football since mid September.

  • 6 Nov 2025, 8:53 p.m.

I think that showed how much losing to Swansea hurt us. Another league cup game and the likes of McAtee and Kalimuendo maybe look a bit more like the standard required. Hopefully in the long run we can look back and see that’s a clean sheet, an away point and some valuable fitness.

Almost certainly not. But we'd have said the same thing in 1975, and so would Leicester fans in 2014.

I can, however, exclusively reveal that we're definitely not going to win the Premier League from the Championship.

  • 6 Nov 2025, 9:07 p.m.

Even 2014 wasn't as skewed towards the big clubs as it is now (and it was pretty skewed).

And 1975 was a different sport entirely!

I love being flippant as much as next moron but we've had about 8 European campaigns yet we've been in the top flight for what, 25-40%, of the clubs existence? Seems strange to wish it away, might be even longer coming around next time.

  • 6 Nov 2025, 9:11 p.m.

Yeah this is me. This is very likely the only European campaign I EVER see from Forest. So I'm all in.

  • 6 Nov 2025, 9:12 p.m.

That's why I've come to the away games. At 56 next May there's a fair chance I'll be dead before we play in Europe again.

  • 6 Nov 2025, 9:28 p.m.

No one is wishing it away. I want sustained success for the club, and the foundation of that is being in the Premier League. It was true when we were in the Championship and it's true now. Cups of any kind are a fun luxury that we can afford when we know we're going to be in the Premier next season.

  • 6 Nov 2025, 9:38 p.m.

Not sure I agree. Quite sure when we are playing Palace away for the tenth season running, and having finished between 8th and 14th for the tenth season running, I will be dreaming of an away game in Austria.

  • 6 Nov 2025, 9:38 p.m.

@Rus You are right. But it's also everything that's wrong with football now.

Finishing 16th in Premier League in perpetuity isn't really what a sporting contest should be. But is what it's become.

  • 6 Nov 2025, 9:45 p.m.

Tbf it was always that way. The last Second Division team to win the FA Cup was West Ham in 1980. Obviously the financial gulf is greater now but let's not pretend that being in the top flight wasn't always the most important thing to clubs our size.

  • 6 Nov 2025, 9:55 p.m.

Good luck to the league trying to schedule us in the championship and champions league. They’d have to give us a bye to both domestic cup finals.

  • 6 Nov 2025, 11:40 p.m.

McAtee is tidy but not very robust. I think when he was at Citeh he shot a lot more. I am going to excuse him because I see he has qualities and he has been recovering from a virus for a while.

Kalibueno is currently fucking rubbish. Brushed off the ball way too easy. Cannot trap a bag of cement. He really was anonymous. I am thinking him or Taiwo in the january squad? I would take Taiwo.. He maybe a bit of a calamity but he is a handful and he has looked decent so far without bothering the net. Surely the Frenchman has more in his locker? Bit weird to pay so much for him when he doesn't seem to fit our style. Maybe he is fast but he has to get the ball on the ground to run with the fucking thing. Hoofing it up to him is completely pointless. Hopefully something we can work on.

Abbott looked good when he came on, considering he is not a winger. Might be a option if Savona is knackered. I think not having cover for Williams could be suicide. Hopefully he doesn't break.

Leeds is going to be an interesting game and I hope we have things going on. And could someone put N'doye in the gym with Kalinnobueno. He falls over like a bag of spuds too.

Anyway, bit of a dull match. Should have won it if we were on our penalty game.

Not too fussed tonight as we are still doing okay in the competition without pulling up roots.

Chicago: Missing out on the European tour.
