Been bitten/stung a couple of times in the garden the other evening and my ankle's swollen right up.

Screaming like a bastard today. Currently icing it.

So the whole "can't be arsed to wait for the swelling to go down" was a bad idea, in retrospect?

NSAIDs and rest is the only correct answer. As you know.

Maybe. Maybe not. The idea is to get it better asap, not avoid it hurting. I've sprained my knee ligaments, and probably torn cartilage. It might have hurt the same, or more, anyway. Swelling has definitely reduced, movement up, and the capillarisation will have stimulated repair.

There's no magic wand here. It's gonna hurt. The objective is a minimum of missed games. The icing is just a normal part of the rehab. I did it for an entire women's tennis match. Probably not long enough really.

Having Gum surgery Thursday morning. It is going to be deeply unpleasant especially since I burn through Novocaine like a coked up Charlie Sheen. The periodontist who is definitely on the spectrum decided it would be best to tell me what they used to do in the past to put me at ease. "In the old days we used to peel down the gums and scrape the infection below the jawline then stitch the gums back up.... It won't be that bad".

Errr thanks for that. Feeling good about it now..... NOT!

Chicago: Ready to let out a wee poo.

Can't. Have to work later because the procedure costs $4000. That's a little over 12 quid.

    Chicago: Morally Bankrupt.

Feels like what is left of my knee cartilage has folded over or got an air bubble behind it or something, and dear goodness it hurts.

I feel your pain...my knee is at least stable...I'm hoping stuff will stop being in the wrong place, stop moving around, and wear smooth.

Tentative first steps in goal tonight....complete with knee brace.

If anyone has UTI on their Dave Rave retirement ailment bingo card feel free to cross it off.
Started a week of Nitrofurantoin tablets yesterday. The difference after 1 day is palpable.
