Maybe. Maybe not. The idea is to get it better asap, not avoid it hurting. I've sprained my knee ligaments, and probably torn cartilage. It might have hurt the same, or more, anyway. Swelling has definitely reduced, movement up, and the capillarisation will have stimulated repair.
There's no magic wand here. It's gonna hurt. The objective is a minimum of missed games. The icing is just a normal part of the rehab. I did it for an entire women's tennis match. Probably not long enough really.
Having Gum surgery Thursday morning. It is going to be deeply unpleasant especially since I burn through Novocaine like a coked up Charlie Sheen. The periodontist who is definitely on the spectrum decided it would be best to tell me what they used to do in the past to put me at ease. "In the old days we used to peel down the gums and scrape the infection below the jawline then stitch the gums back up.... It won't be that bad".

Started a week of Nitrofurantoin tablets yesterday. The difference after 1 day is palpable.
Could equally belong in the Annoying or Travel threads, but we've curtailed our walking trip along Hadrian's Wall and are heading home. Mrs Charlie has rheumatoid arthritis and had a bad flare yesterday. That and her blisters means that she can't do the distances required. She is not a quitter so is not happy. Neither am I.
