Cheers, I'm mostly fine in myself, just a bit stressed but had stopped exercising (mostly due to a couple of staff that have now thankfully left) but I'm dragging myself back on that as it seems to help.
I don't and as Jim alludes to above I use Madri 3-4 evenings a week at the moment to switch from work mode to home mode so I'm aware I've probably bought this on myself.
As already alluded to above it seems that a lifestyle change is required and from the sound of it, immediately.
I think you have a few staff these days so if you don’t already, learn to delegate (and trust those you delegate to) and take regular breaks. In fact, you probably need to take a holiday to recharge, probably without kids if you can (even for a weekend).
And yeah, lose the booze, at least for a bit (fuck me Madri is a shite beer - I thought all this talk about it was a joke) and do some regular exercise. Diarise it if you have to. Go for a ride or run rather than killing yourself for a time on the rower.
Avoiding the news from America might not be a bad thing too if you’re prone to stress!
I have been struggling with stress from time to time recently, and I agree with the advice above, I have made a conscious effort to go out for a walk at least a couple of lunch times and also to try and only work at home in evenings and weekends infrequently (probably once or twice a month - it was pretty much 6 days a week). This has made a big difference, I am no longer dreading going to work, or waking up at 3 each morning.
Get a good assistant or operations director and get them to do all your work for you. Move yourself to a strategic /business development role away from operations and do fuck all. Or sell up and retrain so you can follow your dream to be a comedian touring working mens clubs.
In my very amateur way, I would strongly suggest that you seek help other than from mongs. Running a business is really fucking hard. The stress from that is iceberg like. That shit will kill you if you aren't careful. If a cunt like you is prepared to mention it on a board of twats then I would guess its of quite significant concern. By all means excercise, it will help but also seek help that isnt just medicating it away though medication can help. But to underline the point, dont rely on cunts.
I agree with hairy here as I run my own business I am have to work many many hours to make it work. I am exhausted. Have been for years. Yes, I make lots of money considering but don't really have much of a life due to the new house, repairs, law suits and my wifey's proclivities to spend whatever money we have over.
I haven't got good health care insurance because it's a fucking rip off but I do try and work out when I can but I average about five hours a night which is not enough as I come home late at night and eat (Bad idea but I am starving), and then get up very early to go back to work. I don't need medication. I just need to dig in for another six months to pay a lot of the loans off but in my business it's a terrible idea to turn down work so I understand the long hours and the agita.
Also, now because of the election I am not even really sure I will be able to retire at my target age of 62 which doesn't help much.
Anyway, you are much younger and have children so you are probably fucked but I feel you brother.
Also try not drinking coffee or any caffeine for two weeks. It can make a remarkable difference to agitation levels and sleep quality. If that's unthinkable, try limiting to one before 9am.
I would definitely advocate not going cold-turkey on caffeine, especially if you currently consume a fair bit. Got to bring that down gradually or you get some pretty unpleasant side effects - the headaches in particular can be awful.
I'd be an advocate of cutting out, or at least cutting back, on the booze. If nothing else, you're likely to get some much better-quality sleep which gives you a fighting chance the next day. Exercise helps in that regard too, even a walk at some point of the day is beneficial for more reasons than just the moving around.
But then, as others have said, taking advice from a bunch of internet twats is never preferable to discussing with people who actually know what they're talking about. Hope you're soon feeling better, Ingo.
