The managerial merry-go-round

I think Potter is problematic. He did a magnificent job at Brighton because he was given time and support to do it. No Premier League club will do that as they'll want pretty immediate results, something he struggled to deliver at Chelsea with ridiculous resources at his disposal; a well resourced Champ club would be ideal but he probably doesn't want to drop to that level.

His ideal is probably a club like Forest or Leeds, clubs with the resources to let him build and realistic ambitions to be top half of the Prem. It's going to be very difficult to find one of those that will give him time to deliver though - Brighton really was a case of perfect club, perfect time, perfect circumstances. Maybe he'll go back there when De Zerbi gets poached by a top European club next season.

But where can he take Brighton? They are surely at the top of their curve.

Can he stay out of the fray for a season and hope that Southgate quits after the Euros?

That might be the smartest bet, especially if the FA give him a nod to enjoy a year off on Chelsea's dime and encourage him to spend the time watching as many England players as possible.

Leeds shortlist is believed to be Farke, Parker and Vieira. If I were a Leeds fan I'd be pretty deflated by that - Farke seems like clearly the best of the bunch.

Viera's first season at Palace was pretty good and he only got fired because they'd got buggerall points from a run against all the top teams. If they'd let him carry on into their easier run, every chance his results would have been as good as Hodgson and he'd still be regarded as a top prospect.
