Presumably Roberto Martinez will rock into another international team to get them near-missing, although in a likeable way.

The dream replacement they're chasing is Klopp, and the suggestion is that he hasn't rejected the idea out of hand. There's good history with Germans in charge of USMNT, and they can pay him astronomical amounts of money. When he left he said he wasn't sure if he wanted to manage again but a national team job might appeal, and even if Germany fire Nagelsmann that might be a bit too intense for him if he just wants to make big money and have an easier life. It's unlikely, but if I squint I can see a set of circumstances in which it could happen.
If that’s the case the goofy fucker can have the England job next week.
Klopp has apparently turned down the opportunity to discuss the job with USMNT.
I for one, would like to welcome our goofy new overlord.
De Zerbi to Marseille. Seems like a bit of a comedown to me, from where it looked like he might be going.
Steinberg in the Guardian reports that the FA are hoping to persuade Southgate to sign a new deal to stay on as England manager regardless of Sunday's result.
Hopefully not.
Steinberg was the one who broke the story that Ten Hag was already going to be sacked ahead of the FA Cup final.
Hopefully his managerial insider knowledge is as good on this occasion too.
Be careful what you wish for.
Who’s going to be interested in the England job? I’ve heard Lampard mentioned, Potter is available. Neither of those would go down well with the screeching millions.
I don’t see any ‘top’ manager wanting it so that’s probably the level (this is why we got Southgate in the first place).
I’d stick with him. He’s not the best at in-game management but he’s right up there with the best in how to foster a positive environment. He’s over achieved in my opinion.
If it has to be an English then Potter would do. If he has a shave he looks like Southgate anyway, so stick a waistcoat on him and no-one would be the wiser until he made some subs.
I don't hate the idea of Southgate staying on.
I think it would be an attractive job to a top manager - genuine chance to win a world cup. Klopp might fancy it.
International football manager is an end of career, part time job.
If Klopp thinks he's done as a top level club manager, it might be appealing.
Had enough of success, eh? Fancy a return to the tedious under-achievement of the 30+ years that preceded him?
It’s a point of view, I guess.
I'm sick of these Euro final appearances too. Southgate out!
