SSC must be looking all all of this and thinking ‘what the actual fuck?’.

Three managers who have objectively achieved far less than him getting wined and dined by some of the biggest clubs in Europe, whilst he’s getting fingered by Norwich up against the bins outside Tesco.

Seems like ManYoo will definitely sniffing around Pep’s bins this summer.

McKenna was a coach at Man U before he went to Ipswich, he won the Northern Premier League with their U18s (some of whom are now in the Man U first team) before going on to be assistant manager under Mourinho, so I can see why it would make sense that they'd want to check in with him.

Kompany managed Anderlecht in the Belgian top flight and Europa League, and did moderately well, before winning the Championship at a canter. He also had an absolutely glittering career as a player, and has credibility with the very biggest names in the sport.

Assuming the third one you're talking about is Maresca, yeah, I've got nothing there. But much as we may love Cooper for what he achieved here, he's proven himself to be adept at getting teams to the Championship playoffs and that's about it. I don't think he has too much to be aggrieved about.

And winning the world cup, and working at Liverpool (under Klopp?). He's got as good a CV as McKenna in my view.

On Kompany, certainly he doesn't have as big a name in the game as him. But as others have pointed out, getting a shite Forest team promoted was a lot more of a turn up than getting Burnley back up with their PL squad and parachutes.

Rooney in then. When does the championship relegation market open?

SSC to Burnley kinda makes sense, I think he would prefer that than Ibswidge if offered

McKenna is out of the running for the Chelsea job, it's down to Maresca or Frank. Kinda hope it's Frank, feel like Maresca staying and Frank leaving will weaken both Leicester and Brentford.

  • 27 May 2024, 1:34 p.m.

Maresca the favourite, apparently. SSC to Leicester?

  • 27 May 2024, 1:53 p.m.

Would not enjoy that. Burnley seems like a good move for him, except I like the guy and wouldn't wish living in Burnley on anyone I liked.

  • 27 May 2024, 2 p.m.

As far as I know, he still lives in Keyworth. So logistically it would be a goer for him. I wouldn’t like it either, but given we sacked him we could hardly complain.

  • 27 May 2024, 4:12 p.m.

Leicester fans will automatically not like him. And I doubt he’ll win them over as they will struggle.

I’d also be surprised if they went for him.

Of course, like with any job, you don't need to live in Burnley to work in Burnley. Parts of the Ribble Valley not too far away are very nice. Yorkshire Dales, Manchester and northern Peak District would all be within scope.

Flat in the working city/town...leave the family where they are. Has been the working method for some time now. Nottingham attracts more than it's fair share of managers families, because of the central location (convenient for the next job). The mean location for those working in football is sheffield-ish.

Dyche and Woan were living in Nottingham while managing Burnley. AFAIK they still are.
