I wonder if the plan is for Red Bull to bankroll them doing what we did, and try to outspend any points penalty. Farke doesn't seem like the guy to quickly turn half a new squad into a force quickly.

Promotion specialist but also relegation specialist, so act early to get someone who’s good enough to keep them up? (Not sure he stood much chance in any of Norwich’s attempts.)

Trying to avoid repeating historic mistakes. Like with players, sometimes you must think the manager isn't up to the higher level, and you're shopping in a different market.

That may be true. There is also some extra uncertainty introduced with a coach/manager who doesn't know the club, any of the players, where to send their missus to shop, or the best route into work from Nantes, or wherever.
I think Farke is a decent and perfectly serviceable coach.

Anything in that ballpark would be funny. That sort of coach could be largely expected to have no fucking idea how to stay up against the odds in the first season promoted to the ship.
They would be better with SSC.
