If they were planning on a promotion push, then why not stick with Martin? But if they really wanted to fight for survival with a manager who can get them promoted next year then Cooper would seem to be clearly the best qualified.

Think they decided conceding five in a half at home meant the relationship with the fans was unsolvable.

Possible that Cooper didn’t want to bounce straight into the next available job. His next one is probably make or break if he wants to cut it at this level.

I can only think that Cooper's next job will be in the division below if it isn't a relegation candidate in the Prem. I dearly hope Leicester regret firing him.

He has consistently proven himself capable of getting teams into the playoffs. He hasn't really proven himself capable yet of dragging a team out of the bottom reaches of the Prem. I'd be shocked if his next job isn't the Champ.

He'd be the perfect choice for West Brom if Corberan goes to Southampton.

Cooper didn't get us relegated and left us outside the relegation places. He left Leicester outside the relegation places.

That's a decent record at this level considering the teams, although we know better than most the limitations.

I didn't say relegation places, I said the bottom reaches of the Prem. And I didn't say that he can't do it, I said that he hasn't yet proven himself capable of it. I'm not disregarding any qualifiers about him not being put in a position where it was feasible, but if you're a Southampton or a Wolves you're likely going to be looking for someone who actually has done it before.

This season they'd be delighted with 17th

SSC turning up at West Brom or similar next season after half a season of rinsing the crisps by watching This Morning in his pants on Leicester's ill afforded dollar, and getting someone promoted while Leicester slide into League 1, potless and in existential crisis, is the dream

Confirmed. This Athletic article from last week suggests we might be in for some fun.

Sounds like the ideal man to go into a club where the players routinely get involved in scraps after the final whistle.

Or maybe they'll appoint someone called Ivan Juric for 6 months to oversee their relegation.

Carlos Corberan is leaving West Brom for Valencia. They're currently sitting 7th in the Champ, just outside the playoffs on GD, and the transfer window opens in a week. This sounds like the perfect job for SSC.

I'd have preferred him to rinse Leicester a bit first, but it's unlikely he was a massive amount, relatively speaking, and perhaps didn't have a stellar compoface package contracted.

Passing them on their way down would be great though. Foxes Drivel would be fucking brilliant.

So Corberan lands Valencia whilst SSC is currently unemployed after two sackings. Very different trajectories and ones which you would not have predicted in June 2022.
