Saw there was a new championship tv deal. Didn’t see this:

    Quoted message:

This sky sports broadcasting deal could genuinely be the death of English football as we know it in terms of fan culture.

There are 552 matches in each league every season. 328 of those are being televised in the championship and can’t be played on a Saturday at 3pm 🤯🤯

    twitter.com/_the72/status/1654549860153008128?s=61&t=w-weDDzS0PXEYtazUCi1rg

We’d never play on Saturday afternoon again. How are there enough times to play?

There will be six-eight midweek rounds of 12 games where all will be available via red button etc, plus two or three bank holidays and the final day of season on a Sunday where it will be the same.
How many live games are there this season to compare?

Not sure but this is from the BBC: There will be 10 live EFL fixtures shown every weekend, with five from the Championship and five from League One and League Two

So that’s 5 out of 12 shifted every weekend. And we’d be a disproportionate number of those, so you can assume more than half of our weekend games won’t be at 3 on Saturday. Lots of Friday and Saturday nights, I expect.

Same article says it’s four times as many games as previous deal.

Not hugely different from the EPL then, except we’re less of a draw in the top flight (our rearranged games are often due to the opposition rather than us).
How will they stagger 10 games though
Fri eve, Sat lunchtime, tea time, evening
    Sun lunchtime, afternoon, teatime, evening
    Mon evening
Still only nine unless they lift the Saturday at 3pm rule.

One of the consolations of relegation was mostly playing 3pm Saturday.

Must be red buttoning some of the games.

    Agreed.

It's a shame that P'Boro need to win rather than a draw.

    I disagree.
A playoff final meltdown will be way more entertaining.

I haven't seen the penalty and red card but Derby fans are squealing about how bad a decision it was and how they've been fucked by refs this year.
