Can Duckett slow down a bit? I'd like some of the game to be left on Saturday.

    And on Sunday please.

Went to the Test Match yesterday. I arrived just as Root was out, after which followed another 12 wickets in about three hours. Then I went home feeling not as satisfied with events as I probably should.
I'm a cricket fan but it really is a sport to watch on the telly. We were in the William Clarke stand in front of the TBI which is kind of side-on to the wicket which meant I had absolutely no concept of how well we were bowling / badly they were batting (delete as appropriate). Nor could I follow the ball once it was hit which essentially meant that my first warning of approaching disaster was as the ball cannoned into the board just a few metres away.
Maybe I should've bought one of the Sky-commentary ear piece things that people have to give me some kind of clue as to what was happening. Or stayed at home and watched it on the box of course.

I dispensed with the cricket and just did the drinking. Went home quite satisfied.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I was in the lower Radcliffe and it was hard to follow what was going on. Could have been the beer or my failing eyesight of course. Thoroughly enjoyed the day though. 17 wickets and about 300 runs. I was surprised the ground wasn't full.

I drank on 2 days I was there, to excess and thoroughly enjoyed it. You see more of the ball from the top decks and no roof tiles fall on your head. I'd also go with the best pre-game breakfast option being The Trent Navigation.

The upper tier also has a lift. If you want to be really annoying press the up button when you get out sending the next occupants off to meet Aggers and co.

Cricket isn't necessarily about cricket. It's about a nice day out at the cricket.
Was at the Ashes last year. Much later on the Mrs had to stop me pissing in the wardrobe. What is it that men want to piss in the wardrobe?
We've got tickets for a day against Sri Lanka.

Perhaps when you are discombobulated through drink, you think that you have my taste in clothes?

I love a day out at test cricket, its a good chance to catch up with an old uni mate (only one I have who also likes cricket) & drink beer while some cricket happens nearby.

We wander down to Attenborough. Beer in glasses, no admission fee, can wander around the boundary and pick your position in the sun.

Even then I'd rather be in a nice pub beer garden.

Just noticed the England under 19s currently playing feature Archie Vaughan opening and Rocky Flintoff in the middle order (and Jaydn Denly opening but Joe is somewhat less ilustrious).

Archie Vaughan made his list A Somerset debut v Kent today. He was run out via a deflection at the non-strikers end without facing a ball.
Welcome to professional cricket, lad. At least - for him - Somerset still won.
Jaydn Denly also played. He scraped 18 from 31 balls and didn't get a bowl.

Seems that Ben Stokes has done his hamstring playing in the hundred. At least we’ll get to see what Pope is like as captain.

Sri Lanka national anthem is quite the thing. Sounds like the theme tune to an eastern european sitcom on BBC2 in the 90s.
