Sounds like this place during an international break.

I'm bored of Trump, how long have we got left?

Just occurred to me Ingo may have meant how long have we, as in the population of the planet, got left under Trump before the nukes start flying. That could be much shorter than 3 years.

Wasn’t he on about changing the rules so he could stay for another term?

    He says lots of things.

That's a constitutional amendment and they are almost impossible to pass. If he stays on, it's the end of the current US Republic.

He was moaning about Zelenskyy not holding elections in Ukraine after Russia invaded. He'll likely use America at war as an excuse to "delay" elections if it looks like JD Vance won't win the next ones.

Mid-terms this November. Let's see if they happen.

Didn't he say something like vote for me and you'll never have to vote again, or did I imagine that?

He later explained that as he'd have fixed everything in four years. I think that or just the shear fact that he wouldn't be running again in four years and he couldn't give a shit about who wins an election he's not involved in are pretty plausible.

On a personal level that might be true...but he's likely being incentivised towards specific outcomes, because those that are running him probably don't have the same antipathy to the ultimate end goal.

This was my thinking, there are 3 outcomes:

    a) He dies
    b) He fucks off after 4 years
    c) We all die

His handlers have been gently pushing a couple of not-exactly-unconstitutional-in-a-certain-light options, like it's not 3 consecutive terms, or he runs as VP and the Pres then resigns. Of course it's totally illegal but that hardly matters when no-one enforces the law any more.

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of President more than once.

No wriggle room there for non-consecutive terms. And maybe they could get the VP thing past the surpreme court (I believe you can't be elected as VP if you aren't eligible to be president but doesn't explicitly say eligible to be elected president) but, again, it's the end of the current republic. Although it obviously won't be acknowledged as such.
