The Chair Company is profoundly funny and Profoundly silly. Tim Robinson has created a very simple premise for HBO and made it genius. Top comedy.

Landman is in itself daft as a brush but as entertainment goes it is bloke's TV in a nutshell. Billy Bob Thornton is very funny in this and definitely carries the show but my quest to get Gay week going seems to come to a crushing halt every time i see his character's daughter. Actress. Michelle Randolph. Good lord. I guess I am just as shallow as the rest of Mankind. Must try harder.... Anyway, wifey likes the show too so clearly it is made for the masses so i don't know what I am talking about. Shameless entertainment.

    Chicago: Easily Entertained.

She's very attractive, but Ali Larter is one of the most beautiful women to ever grace our screens.

    My favourite ever documentary series

I am a huge history buff and I was late to the party with this one but it has absolutely captivated me. As shit as things are now, it turns out we shouldn't have lived past 1983, so maybe I shouldn't stress so much. I believe that some of you mongs may have mentioned this pearl but I missed it. Soz.

I think this is massive evidence that growing up with the internet would have been the worst idea ever. If us kids has known we would be basket cases like the current generation.

Brilliant, and scary as fuck. It's an utter miracle we are still here.... Give it time..

    Chicago: Enjoying each breath.

I keep meaning to get around to The Man Who Saved the World which is the documentary about Stanislav Petrov. So I assume he’s (or at least his actions are) mentioned in that series.

I remember living in West Germany and spending most of the early 80s in abject fear of nuclear annihilation. Didn’t help when I was getting something out of the cellar and my Dad remarked “this is where we’ll go when the Russians invade.”
BFBS was stopped from showing Threads at the last minute. Which I was really glad of as, even years later, it shat me up massively.

Anyway, technically we’re even more at risk now. Sleep tight.

I’ve found Netflix documentary series to be a bit hit and miss but I might give this a go. I enjoyed Deutschland 83, if this is your bag.

Each episode charts the time between the end of the second world war and now. It really is tremendous and yes I share your skepticism of Netflix Documentaries but this is right on the money. They do indeed include Stanislav Petrov in episode 5 or 6. It is extremely eye opening.

Alien. You seem to be as well traveled as me. Although you ended up in Florida you poor sod. No wonder you have a bad back.

Anyway, this is so good I think it should be shown in schools but what the hell do I know...

    Chicago: Buying sandbags..

On episode 4 of Alien: Earth. Way better than I expected it to be.

A mate told me the acting was terrible and to avoid it. So I did. Might have to revisit.

Tbf it’s a massive drop off in quality after ep 5. You can not bother watching after that and be better off.

I loved Alien Earth. There is a scene in the last episode that is totally ridiculous but since it is a prequel to the original alien it does have some good places to go. Happy that a second season has been green lit. It also if you watch closely have some connection with the Prometheus prequels...

Alien Earth is Better than all the films apart from the first two... (Alien and Aliens...)

    Chicago: Xenomorph.

I would like to live in a world where this was a bold take. Fucking hell, did I hate Prometheus.

Alien Earth starts off decent, loses its way a bit, then Ep 5 is solid, before it deteriorates into Buffy but Aliens.

It ended up as turgid shite. The last two eps are laughable.

A season of two halves, innit.

Hard to compare to the movies, but I’d put it above Prometheus, Resurrection and Covenant. Just for those first few eps and the decent world building and promise it had.

Hard disagree with this. E5 is a lazy sop to the people who just want to watch xenomorphs running round a ship killing humans, but that's by far the least interesting thing about this series. And it doesn't even do it well, the one "revelation" was anything but and the xenomorph itself is badly handled and far less menacing and scary than it ever has been before. That was by far the weakest episode so far and it was completely unnecessary.

If Xenomorphs killing dozens of people with no counter…

I’d stop watching now if I was you,

What the absolute fuck is a xenomorph and why are you all watching children’s tv?

It’s more of a teen drama tbf.

Firefly, Buffy, Twilight fans all love it.

Something to do with Tony Hart I think.
I remember the controversy when Signourney Weaver was cast as him in the film.
'And now it's time to get away from the Gallery, you BITCH'.

Finished the series. I can't think how I would disagree with you more on it, and I don't for the life of my understand the Buffy references other than it features young adults as its primary characters, which is a pretty tenuous comparison. I think they did a fantastic job of expanding the Alien universe, by far the weakest episode was E5 which was just a pastiche of the previous movies - the rest of the series actually didn't really have much to do with the xenomorphs at all which were to some extent a McGuffin via which to explore themes of corporate skullduggery, unchecked capitalism, and the moral quandaries of biohacking.
