Oh, the glorious years of Doughty austerity. Loved on these boards as much as the Starmer austerity of today. The gradual demise of everything. How fun that was.

Things were better when I were a lad!

Oh wait, they actually were. Two European Cups.

We are spared Forest making tricky happy, the terminally shit James Justin has joined Leeds.

Maybe not if Taiwo is on his way out.

Thought he was a winger. If he is a forward then fair enough. We really need some full backs (and not the left back from Leicester).

Looking like losing Toffolo was a bad bit of business. Unless 3-2-5 is the future.

Ornstein saying left back shortlist is Seys from Club Brugge or Kristiansen from Leicester. Right back Molina from Atletico Madrid or Geertruida from Leipzig.

A Sun journo is saying West Ham want Sangare on loan with an obligation to buy if certain criteria met.

Having waited so bloody long for Sangaré to start playing anywhere near his potential (which I think he has over the final few games of last season & the first two of this), I'd be somewhat disappointed if we now let him leave. And defensive midfield is one of the few places where we don't really have cover... Unless we are thinking of evolving to an Anderson-Luiz double act in front of the back 4 (which is how Luiz used to play for Villa, IIRC).

Just under a week until the end of the window, seems like we still want to sign Bakwa, left back, right back, new goalkeeper.

Implies, to me, departures of Richards, Carmo, Silva, Awoniyi as well as Dennis and Bowler.

    Leaves the 25 as:

    Sels, Gunn, GK3.
    Aina, Williams, LB, RB.
Murillo, Milenkovic, Morato, Boly. (+Abbott, Cunha)
    Sangare, Anderson, Dominguez, Yates, Luiz
MGW, CHO, Ndoye, McAtee, Hutchinson, Winger
    Wood, Jesus, Kalimuendo

Three (+Cunha) out for Europe - presumably one of the goalkeepers (Bott can act as the third in line), Dominguez and someone else. Do we preemptively rest Aina (with AFCON coming up) or even Wood (given age and amount of travelling)?

I realise that prioritising getting club-trained players is a bit cart before the horse but we are probably missing a trick if we loan out Moreira as it probably means he can't become club-trained in the future.

Further info suggests his agent has offered him to West Ham. I don’t know if the agent wants a bit of cash or has been told to find him somewhere, would be surprised if it was the latter. My main concern with him is that he will be injured again shortly.

Plus AFCON. He came back injured from there last time.

We would be idiots to let Sangare go. He was looking good vs Brentford and had his moments vs Palace (apart from the rugby conversion).

    1. Nico D: still injured
    2. Luiz. Hopefully will turn out to be the Villa Luiz. We don't know how long it will take for him to get back to that level.
    3. Yatesey. Not a starter in this team.
    4. MGW has demonstrated against Brentford (Yarmoliuk nearly scored) and Palace (Sarr did score) that his control in his own 1/3rd does not make him a deep lying midfielder
