That's an odd interview. Is he playing mind games? Thinking the players are over confident?

Leave me out of it. Unless you have some measure of what you are talking about. Which your argument suggests that you don't.
There's been a bit of a trend of it:

He seems very pissed off re the transfer business and the bond of the players, which is a bit odd as we have only lost one (maybe 1.5) first team players - you would have thought that the existing players would still have the bond.
Presumably it's not the bonding of the players who were here last season he's worried about - it's the new signings - Jesus and Cunha were in Portugal but I don't think Ndoye was, let alone the four who may be arriving today.
He does look down and smirk at the end of that interview...
He's pissed off with someone. This is a political move. Is he establishing his ground with Edu? Or is he getting Maranakis to back off while he knows he's in a great position to get a new job if he gets sacked.
Fergie mind games
Worth pointing out that we don't have a midweek game until the third round of the League Cup in a month's time. (With another one the following week in the Europa League.)
Hutchinson HWG from Romano.
Esapa Osong has gone to Motherwell for a year. Poor bloke.
What happened to that young lad we sold to Spain for £7m a few years ago? I can't recall his name to Google it
This time last year he was saying that by far the most important business we had done was keeping the key players. Somehow we have managed to do the same again (yes, Elanga… but only Elanga, & a decent replacement), including getting several of them to sign new contracts. But a different message.
I wouldn’t read too much into it; as he says, we can assess how we’ve done once the window closes. Still a slightly odd thing to air that publicly
Arvin Appiah? Second division of French football, so says Wiki. His eighth club since leaving Forest in 2019 - via Spain, Portugal and a brief spell at Rotherham two years ago.
I'm suspecting we got the better end of that £8m deal.
Arvin Appiah.
2 goals in 54 games for Almería (in 2019). Then a string of loans (6 in total), mostly Spanish or French second division. And Rotherham.
I think it’s fair to say we got the better of that particular deal.
