If Liverpool do sign Isak, then that'll be some gallows humour at Elanga.

Sky reporting deal hasn’t yet been done with reps now back in England, and Forest pushing to sign him.

  • 16 Jul 2025, 7:39 p.m.

Yes, I've read the thread properly now.

    Soz. Carry on.

  • 17 Jul 2025, 10:31 a.m.

The Athletic has big piece on where Wissa would fit into Forest, which briefly, towards the end, says that Brentford won't sell him and Mbeumo in the same window, when the latter is surely going to leave.

  • 17 Jul 2025, 11:50 a.m.

I think there’s pretty much zero chance we’re getting Wissa

  • 17 Jul 2025, 11:55 a.m.

We really really need to get some bloody players in now. It feels like we're floundering a bit.

  • 17 Jul 2025, 11:57 a.m.

We’re a month away from the 1st game of the season.. and we’ve already signed 2 players, just how many were you expecting by now?

  • 17 Jul 2025, 11:57 a.m.

Yeah, especially now Newcastle want him as well

  • 17 Jul 2025, 12:23 p.m.

We are currently weaker than last season.

We’ve signed a back up striker and defender and lost a key attacker.

I’d also like to see a bit of a move on.

  • 17 Jul 2025, 12:26 p.m.

At the end of last season most people agreed we needed more depth in our squad. 3-4 players that can push for a starting place I would have said.

Since the end of the season we've lost Sosa, Elanga and (almost certainly) Gibbs-White. Not to mention Toffolo and probably some others I'm forgetting.

So we're now at the point of needing probably 3 good quality players to get us back to where we finished the season, then another 3+ on top of that if we want to improve at all (which Marinakis will surely want). That's before we even talk about needing more players for Europe.

So I think we need/would like to get 6-7 players in. 4-5 at the bare minimum.

Does it feel like we're close to signing anyone? Even multiple players? It doesn't to me.

It's beneficial to get business done as soon as possible to get them into some pre-season games, learn how Nuno wants them to play, settle into the area etc.

We are way behind where I (and I presume the club hierarchy) think we should be right now in terms of recruitment this summer.

The players we have lost so far are:

Anthony Elanga - 31 starts and 7 sub appearances
Alex Moreno - 11 starts and 4 subs
Ramon Sosa - 1 start and 18 subs
    James Ward-Prowse - 5 starts and 4 subs
Harry Toffolo - 1 start and 3 subs

There's also currently an issue over what we will be playing in next season - without factoring in that shitty might yet be sanctioned appropriately and lose their champions league spot (I jest).

I imagine we will have a range of acquisitions lined up and in process. I think the wider world not knowing everything about that is broadly a good thing.

  • 17 Jul 2025, 2:23 p.m.

We’re doomed, guaranteed relegation is on the cards next season, guess I’ll cancel that international fan membership as the ground will be empty, and tickets easy to get when we’re sat on only 2 points at Xmas.

  • 17 Jul 2025, 2:59 p.m.

When you write it like that it doesn't seem to bad, but you've almost certainly got to add MGW to it (36+ appearances?), that we're going to have an increase in the number of games we're playing, and that we were already short.

I assume Europa league, rather than conference, increases the requirements as well. Felt like there’d be a fair proportion of games in the conference where the team that drew with Exeter would be favourites but any Europa game we wanted to win (ie all of them until we get knocked out) we’d have to be close to full strength.
