I thought with Suarez the clause was that he had to be informed of any offer over £40m. Not that it had to be accepted. So Liverpool informed him and then turned it down. MGW sounds like an actual release clause.

Given it’s confidential and no-one even knew of its existence until 24h ago, it’s a bit of a reach to be speculating on the differences between Suarez and MGW’s contract…..

Gibbs-White being booked for a medical seems to be a bit of a tell.

No-one would have bid 60M for Morgan unless they knew there was a release clause. So if Spuz weren't so Scrooge-like, they could have gone with 65M and no-one would have been the wiser, and no conspiracy of coincidence.
But instead, presumably Morgs' agent let it slip which potentially means the release clause would be invalidated.
That would suck for Morgs, but, frankly, his wellbeing isn't my number 1 concern here.
