We are clearly seeing signs that last season's great unbuilding is over, and as a result of the pre-doped financial elite clubs broad under-performance last time out, they are now putting their shoulders to the wheel.

There's a clear stepping on the head of the well run clubs (look at the plundering of the likes of brentford, palace - the attempts with us and E&MGW), and an assertion of the established order to keep the cannon fodder in their place (Newcastle wont be able to sign anyone unchallenged, and only if they cough up their crown jewels).

Rob Dorsett reckons Marinakis had put the brakes on transfer spending until the Europe issue was sorted. But now it’s all go.

    Not sure I believe this.

Fernandes would be very good. Busy little player. We have held a long standing interest in him.

Carmo looks likely to go to Valencia. So more moolah in the kitty.

I wonder what we have played fro hybrid forward/attackers because we seem light in the goal department right now. I miss Elanga already.

    Chicago: On the attack.

I suspect that there's a significant revenue difference between Europa and the Conference, so I can see some logic to it.

Reportedly around £20m, I think. Paul Taylor spoke to Colin Fray on his podcast last week and said the club had a Plan A and Plan B transfer list ready to go once they'd heard the outcome of Palace's appeal today.

It’s largely to do with cash for wins and draws. An athletic article suggests winning the Europa would net 32m euro and conference league 18m euro. So not an astronomical amount of difference in terms of football transfers and what we need (and have sold).

And arguably the games will be harder to win in the Europa, so that extra income may be harder to earn.

A nil nil draw in the Europa sees 150k go back in the prize pot compared with 133k in conference.

It’s 450k per win in Europa. 400k in conference.

Will we get more gate revenue?

Spurs played Qarabag, AZ, Roma and Elfsbourg at home in the group stage last season. Certainly couldn't see the first or last ones selling out at Brentford prices. And I certainly couldn't imagine them getting away with those sorts of prices for Fredrikstad. Chelsea played Gent, Noah and Shamrock Rovers. Good luck pursuading anyone to pay £70 for any of those.

Really? I think there's a novelty and they'll all easily sell out, even at higher costs than Brentford.

You would imagine that priority for later stage tickets would also be impacted by engagement with the earlier rounds as an incentive.

Romano is doing that thing, where he retweets himself with cryptic emojis to get more enagagement, about McAtee, so he probably thinks it's about to be announced or at least informally confirmed pending the inevitable videos on socials.

Unless they give first priority to people who attended the Al Qadasiya game. They are the real hardcore.

Keith Downie (Sky) says that Newcastle are running out of options for an Isak replacement now they've lost Sesko to Man U, and it's increasingly likely that they keep him. It's hard to imagine how this window could have gone worse for them, now they're going to be stuck with a depreciating asset who doesn't want to be there.

Going to that game should get you a ban.

Women’s season ticket holder has to take priority over this. Extra priority for having a netball one too.
