We don't have to trust them. They are going to do whatever they want, whatever you or I think, or care. We are entitled to have an opinion, though. Both before and after we've seen them play.
I despise this 'trust', 'respect', 'let down' narrative that people thrust on each other on the back of zero knowledge. Whatever happened to just cracking on, and people making their own personal judgement on whether you deserve their trust, respect, or are just a massive bellend?
Never heard of him but he could turn out to be very helpful in the long run. I always thought that the giant Brazilian was going to be decent but wasn’t really given much of a chance after a rick and an injury so maybe this one will stick.
I wonder how he will do against baby oil in training if he rolls up at the City Ground.?
What the actual fuck? I’m not thrusting anything on anyone, you Drama Queen.
In my opinion our recruitment team have performed pretty well over the past 4 windows. Not perfect, because no recruitment ever will be at any club - but far more hits than misses. On that basis, if they think Angus Gunn is worth employing, I’m prepared to take that risk (because no transfer is a cert) until & unless I see evidence to the contrary.
As it happens, slightly randomly I have seen Gunn play (a mate’s stag do included a Saints game). He didn’t stick out as being exceptionally good or exceptionally bad; he simply looked a perfectly competent professional keeper, as you’d kind of expect from a Scottish international.
I also think that the interwebs opinions of random fans who you don’t know from Adam are not exactly a reliable indicator. Many Newcastle fans said they had our pants down with Chris Wood. Man Utd fans similar re Elanga. More pertinently to a keeper, Newcastle fans were also pretty damning about Matz Sels.
It’s not “about” whether you can have an opinion, because self evidently everyone can [& since I have never either believed or said anything else, please don’t (what was the phrase?) “thrust” your misreading of what I said on me.]
It’s about whether that opinion (in this case about Angus Gunn) is based on any evidence whatsoever, as opposed to just standard football fan whingeing that someone else who you don’t know & for all we know could be the reincarnation of Hannah’s Teddy “reckons he’s shite”.
Still, if you want to take the word of Tommy Tosser from Totton, you fill your boots.
My simple point is why the fuck should I ever think in terms of trusting, or in any way investing in, a bunch of people I've never met, who work for a billionaire, and multiple football clubs, at moving money around and doing deals at the very least totally against the spirit of community football clubs.
How did we get to a social position, where we are expected to trust people we don't know, and yet do know are definitely acting in their own interests not yours?
Not for me, thanks. I shall observe. I won't be trusting any of the cunts while they price ordinary fans away from their lifetime support of their club.
Seems like a sensible one for everyone. Even if Sels stays fit all season, Gunn will definitely play as fair few games with Europe adding to the domestic cup calendar this time.
Would be a shame I think. He's been a bright light in pre-season. He looks strong and lean. I was looking forward to watching him hopefully develop this season. It puts pressure on Luiz to come in and perform straight away too.
