Agreed. Plus Nuno, Aina, Williams & now MGW have signed new contracts - if we can add CHO to that list I’d say that represents good work on the “retaining the core of your existing team” front.

Now we just need to add some more depth to complement Igor Jesus (which my autocorrect seems to want to change to Ivor Jesus - who sounds more Welsh Baptist pastor than Brazilian forward). Based on previous transfer windows under Marinakis, I remain confident that we will do exactly that.

[Can’t say I’ve been tracking other clubs’ signings too closely, but particularly Man Utd & Spuds. United have signed Cunha (not our one) & Mbeumo… any defenders, or at this point are they still relying on last season’s shower at the back?

And have Spuds signed anyone of significance to back up their fans’ crowing on Yer Socials?]

Yes, retaining MGW after feeling we had lost him is a massive boost. Replacing him and Elanga was pretty much impossible within budget. Just do need things to start happening soon though,

2 wingers - probably 3 if Jota Silva is off, as seems likely.

    A full back.

    A midfield player - probably 2.

Maybe a forward, depending on how confident they are about Jesus adapting fast. This “forward” could be one of the “wingers”, of course. Or a versatile No 10-ish midfielder.

In an ideal world, a backup keeper.

Depends on not losing any other important players, obvs. Also how long they envisage Domínguez will take to get match fit.

One or two of these could be loans.

    Perfectly doable.

The council of perfection would add more than that; I’d like more, but the question was how many we need.. In my opinion.

Sounds like he's not all that interested in them, wants a UCL club.

  • 27 Jul 2025, 7:27 p.m.

Agreed, I'd be happy with 5 but the problem being they all need to be quality which ain't easy. It would be easy, if the squad doesn't have enough depth, to fall between two stools in an effort to be semi competitive in Europe (will be more of a problem if it is the Europa League). Maybe if we sign 10, five will be good enough.

I hope there's lots going on in the background, as at the moment, we look miles away from signing that amount.

Regarding Gibbs-White, Percy sez: “There is no release clause. There is no gentleman’s agreement to leave next summer.”

  • 27 Jul 2025, 7:58 p.m.

There's two things here we shouldn't lose sight of:

    1) The club needed to establish whether Morgan Gibbs-White would be around next season or not
    2) We still don't know which European competition we're playing in

I'm unclear why anyone would be expecting major incomings over the past week or so.

We’ve been here before with this discussion, so I refer you to what I have previously written:

    1. Forest under Marinakis are not exactly (in)famous for not signing players.

    2. Forest under Marinakis have never conducted their transfer business in the press / public eye - so the fact that you don’t know about what’s being done does not mean that nothing is being done.

    3. More than 50% of the current squad were signed on deadline day or within 4 days of it.

We almost certainly won’t sign all these players before Brentford (though I bet we’ll have signed several). But we will sign them.

    Bet ya.

Naughty. I rate him, and would be all over that from a playing perspective, but suspect that
    the numbers wouldn't work.

I wonder if Brennan has a release clause too?

Anyway, looks like Big Mental man has got involved in negotiations and that NDoye will be a Forest player sooner rather than later. Also Adam Traore may indeed be brought in for the Elanga role which is pleasing as he is rapid but will also bring a bit of fear and comedy too. Nuno made him decent at Wolves even if he was a bit of a headless chicken. The same could have been said for Elanga too when he joined us.

I am happy for Traore to join just for the baby oil arms as it's hilarious watching players slip off him... or something...

    Chicago: Speed Freak.

Nuno almost exclusively played a back 3 at Wolves, didn't he? So, did Traore play as a wing back?
