Difficult to judge (in either competition) until we’ve seen a draw.

It’s always possible to tell when people are talking bollocks on the internet; you can tell by the number of times they put “FACT” in their posts.

Some of the above are - currently - facts.

I would particularly question the final one - or rather the underlying assumption that the club aren’t really doing much and/or getting a move on. See my list of signing dates above.

You Shirley don’t seriously think the recruitment team have all gone on holiday or are sitting on their arses saying, “Meh; no need to do anything for a few weeks yet, lads…”?

I do not for a second expect this to happen, but we could start our first league game (4 weeks tomorrow) with:

Sels: Aina, Murillo, Milenković, Williams: Sangaré, Yates: CHO, Anderson, Jota Silva or Jesus: Wood. (Assumes Domínguez still injured).

Bench particularly thin in midfield, but hardly the apocalypse that seems to underpin much of the pant-wetting amongst our fan base.

We need to sign players (FACT… ;-)).

We will sign players (FACT). Personally I’d rather we signed the right players - even if not until 1 September - than run around with our pants on fire in a “something must be done NOW” frenzy just to get bodies in to calm everyone down.

[Actually, I’m not even sure this is what many of our fans are wailing about; they seem to want to know what’s happening - presumably so they can pontificate about how they don’t really fancy Roman Kickabolić or Carlos Targeta Amarillo Esperanto a Suceder, who they’d never heard of 30 seconds before. “For me, much better going for Grealish or Rashford”… or some other player equally unrealistic with our finances.]

Under this regime the club has never conducted its transfer business in public. If you’re desperate to see more “Forest are linked with” pieces, most of them are made-up, extremely tenuous, floated by agents looking to boost their clients, or a combo of the above. The NEP talks a fair load of old shite when it comes to “linked with”; try there.

On past evidence (e.g. Domínguez, Milenković, Anderson) the first we will hear of it is when the deal is all but done.

    It. Is. Fucking. July.

    Fact.

Not only that, but you could definitely argue that in Villa’s case it didn’t work; they failed to qualify for the Champions League & by all accounts are once more in a certain amount of bother with PSR (especially the UEFA version).

City spent ludicrous amounts of money in January. But we’re not City (or Villa) or anywhere near yet. Not in the same planet financially.

I feel like Brid and Jim have been having this exact same argument every year for the last decade.

Worth bearing in mind that Wolves have lost, probably, their two best players and signed no-one.
Brentford have lost their manager, keeper, captain and about to lose their top scorer and signed Kelleher and Jordan Henderson.
Bournemouth have lost Kerkez, Huijsen and probably Zabarnyi and signed a cheapish left back as a replacement.
Brighton have sold Pedro and have replaced him with an 18 year old from Olympiacos (who, you presume, we could have had if we wanted).

You have to get used to the big 6 doing their business first (maybe along with Newcastle if they are operating at that level now) then the rest of us picking up the pieces afterwards.

I will absolutely miss Barry. I think if he hadn't had been badly injured he would have been a star for us. His performance against Brighton in the 7-0 will was pivotal as that boy could pass. After that, the adrenline subsided and his performances slid precipitously.
I also thought that Nuno dropped him into some odd games too. He looked lost sometimes and everyone was yelling at him. I honestly think if he refinds his mojo then we will see young Danilo and his smiling face again. This is of course if he relearns how to tackle as clearly he was scared to do so after that nasty ankle boo boo.

With Jota possibly going too I am guessing we have something clever lined up. Xavi Simons available for 45 Million Euros would be a very very good replacement for MGW if he fucks off to the cocks. And even if he doesn't then i would have him because i think he is a special player. Still young.

    Chicago: Playing Football manager.

No idea about the identity of targets, but I agree with you that Forest allowing Danilo to leave doesn’t exactly back up the Private Shady-Frazer “dooooomed” narrative. If you’re worried that you won’t be signing anyone, you don’t let players leave even if they aren’t quite at the level you believe you’re looking for.

I too liked Danilo, but his injury understandably set him back & he ain’t displacing Anderson any time soon. He’s still young & could recover well in the medium term; we should certainly wish him well.

Rumors abound that were interested in Dan Ndoye from Bologna…no me neither.
