We’ve had no problems selling players so far this summer but really do need to get a move in now getting them in. And good ones at that. Easier said than done but the Elanga sale is looking very daft now.
Edit: you have to wonder if the club has been naive with MGW and the release clause. They obviously knew about it and no doubt his agent has been touting it around and found a buyer, but it feels very sudden. Maybe the Elanga deal doesn’t happen if this had been last week.
The press love to fellate Frank. Spurs are somehow seen as the romantic’s club and the whole story underscores the importance of the Sky6 whilst the rest of the league are there to make up the numbers, provide players and not cause a fuss.
As I mentioned earlier, I am increasingly irked by the amount these guys can spend with apparent impunity and the size of their squads. Last season United and Spurs were genuinely shit, Chelsea made a late run and City were well below par. That will not be happening again. The clubs that made a challenge (Brentford, Brighton, Fulham*, Bournemouth, Palace, us) have largely had their best players taken, as have teams that should have done better (Wolves, West Ham).
Feels to me that he was relatively happy to stay, but Elanga going (his best mate it seems from Instagram) has pissed him off and he's told his agent to start talking to people about the release clause.
