He's listed at 6', so not a short arse but also not a giant. He's athletic, very quick, and intelligent. He's probably more of a Niakhate or Murillo replacement than Boly.

I am with you on this except I don't think MGW is at peak value because he hasn't started scoring many goals yet and he hasn't broken into the England squad. Both of those things are possible in my opinion (though he's not likely to be a regular starter for England he is on the verge of the squad, according to sounds coming out of St George's Park. What makes me think those things will happen for him is he clearly has his psychology right. He works very hard, is very professional and he has composure too (what he does in tight spaces under pressure is exceptional). He is getting the chances and the goals will come. If those things happen he could be a £70M+ player.

Murillo is less central to all our play, but he's going to have more market value because there are not many defenders who can do the things he do, he's Brazillian and he has really stood out.

On the selling front, one thing which would be good, providing we can find a replacement one, is if we could sell Wood to the Saudi league for more than he is possibly worth. Not impossible.

As discussed a couple of days ago, the problem with selling Morgan is that it doesn't realise a lot of profit as we'd have to write down 80% of his purchase price this year if we sell him before July.

Ideally we'll be able to cobble together the £15-20M we need to make through selling a few fringe players for small markups, rather than one big deal. Sad though it makes me to consider, I can easily see Ipswich or Leeds paying £10-15M for Worrall.

Think there's too many people ahead of Gibbs White for an England place, unless he's playing for a big 6 team. Shouldn't be like that, but it is. And I'm not concerned m convinced he's going to suddenly turn into a regular goalscorer. It's more likely he'll play deeper as he gets older and, if anything, score fewer.

I’d rip your arms off for that. Worrall isn’t worth that and also he was allegedly the team sheet leaker so a bad egg.

Maybe Middlesbrough can pay stupid money for him. I would be fine with that.

    Chicago: Moving on.

The way I see it, he's at the stage Grealish and Cantwell were in 2020 (and Maddison was just ahead of them). They were broadly equivalent and both being linked with big moves and getting a lot of media attention, they both stayed and then went on completely different trajectories. It could go either way for Morgan but he's only 24 so I don't think we need to worry about him slowing down yet and he gets a lot of goalscoring chances so converting this is a clear area of his game that's improvable
He's more Grealish than Cantwell in my opinion and he could certainly be for us what Maddison and Grealish were for Leicester if he kicks on.

It's pretty ludicrous to think that Joe Worrall, a proven premier league failure, is going to be attractive to anybody wanting to stay in the Premier League. He is basically to us what Steve Cook is to Bournemouth. Fine if we went down. No real role for us or anyone if we don't. Might get a few bobs from a champ team but he's probably best to stay abroad or maybe even back to one of the big two in Scotland.

Listed on wikipedia? The club site?

Footballers are often not as big as they think they are, or are listed as. I once spent an entertaining afternoon proving to one that he was two inches shorter than he thought.

    I cheated.

Depending where you look he's listed at 6' or 6'1". I know it's your brand to automatically assume that everything you see written down is a lie designed to hoodwink you into falling for someone else's devious scheme, but sometimes stuff just is.

  • 12 May 2024, 6:01 p.m.

Well it’s a moot point because he bombs down the wing like a full back so I would buy him for that position anyway.

    Chicago: Positionally excellent.

  • 12 May 2024, 7:22 p.m.

    Not Barkley?

  • 12 May 2024, 7:55 p.m.

No thanks. A clever player for sure, but doesn't have the pace, engine or durability needed for the Premier League. Can't see who he'd replace in our team.

  • 12 May 2024, 8:18 p.m.

    Gibbs White

  • 12 May 2024, 8:20 p.m.

Are you suggesting that because you think MGW will be sold, or because you think that Barkley is better than MGW?

  • 12 May 2024, 8:20 p.m.

    Dominguez.

  • 12 May 2024, 8:27 p.m.

Probably the likeliest, but I'd still prefer Nico. He's younger and has plenty of opportunity to become better. We have such a young team, if we keep most of it together I think there's plenty of reason to be optimistic.
