I've no idea what, if anything is the manager's fault or whether the players could / should do more or whether the first team and or squad are better or worse under different manager(s) in a different set of circumstances.

We've certainly come a fair way from that, though perhaps not as far as one might hope with some of the money spent?
Most teams struggle the first time they qualify for europe, because the extra games just take a toll. I'm prepared to cut everyone a fair amount of slack on that basis.
Oof. Of that team, only Wood and arguably Navas would have made it into yesterday's starting lineup and it turns out that for a change we didn't need Woody anyway. Lodi and Felipe would have made yesterday's squad.
I didn't think Scarpa actually played football for us. I thought he arrived, had a go on his skateboard in market square, then buggered off to Turkey where the skate parks are of a higher standard.
