"The Captain of Her Heart" by Double (pronounced Dew-Ble apparently because they're Swiss, which I was previously unaware of).

That's a great song. I'd forgotton all about it.

    Probably because I haven't it since c.1986.

Quite possibly. I know it was in the top 40 sellers of 1985 because that was the year I got my first radio/cassette recorder for Xmas and taped the charts.

    Home taping's killing music, kids.

I still have many, many top 40 recordings in my mums attic, painstakingly catalogued up until about late 1987 when I began to lose interest as it was mostly all a bit shit by then and electro / acid house / rave tapes started to slowly take over.

Anyway I'm now inclined to ask Spotify to ay Rock Me Amadeus and seek out Electro 9 because of your post. Excellent work.

"Is it Like Today" by World Party. Not "How did it come to this" which is what I thought it was called.

Thinking that Karl no longer walks amongst us makes me sad. World party, Karl, not mark.

I seem to have the new Linkin Park song in my head as well as Statues by Bring Me the Horizon. Yeah hardly retro, but this thread took me back to when i religiously sat taping the top 40 charts in the '80's. I had almost forgotten how much pleasure that gave little old me. Now spotify makes things so easy and fucks the artists. The fact that so much music is available on that system is incredible. I feel lazy.

Anyway, la la la la la...

Chicago: Not totally forgetting the past.

I absolutely love Emily Anderson's voice. The Emptiness Machine is one of my favourite songs of the year.

Saw them at Cardiff in 2005 and that was on the set list. Awesome.

You shouldn't go round exposing your kids to that rubbish. Although it's a step up on your usual material.

Mentioning the song inexplicably stuck in my head today would be an act of violence against this community. So I won’t.

    You’re welcome.
