The crowd was a huge part, but that is where Cooper has been brilliant for this club, he has brought together the crowd and the team and he has moulded that team despite a huge number of signings from all different parts of the world and different leagues. That's not to get carried away, Brighton are a far better football team than us but we found a way to disrupt with the energy of our press and ability to turn errors and turnovers into chances. It's not hard to imagine say a Chelsea not liking that much either. It's reminiscent of the way we charged through the Championship with a somewhat gung-ho attitude to games. It won't be something we can do forever but it might be just what we need to gather the points that keep us up. It also gives us an edge on some of the other, Leeds for example and probably Everton too, who just don't seem to have that to tap into.

Good? I wouldn't go that far. Better? Very much so. With confidence growing in the second half we actually remembered how to keep hold of the ball occasionally and pass it to players in a red shirt. Attacks were powerful and Awoniyi makes a difference as an outlet. Did we deserve to win? I thought so, we were the better team.

A morale-crushing home defeat for Everton tonight would be lovely

I think you are being a bit harsh. If you rate performances as Poor/Average/Good/Excellent then I think we were good overall. Brighton didn't play badly but were clearly a bit leggy in the second half following their efforts on Sunday, but although maintaining our low percentage possession rates we made good use of it when we got in their half and could have had 5-6 goals. I agree that Awoniyi was important as were MGW and Danillo, and a big up to Worrall who did an excellent job when he replaced Niakhate.

To be "Good" we would need to spend some time being comfortable on the ball. We used it well when we had it but almost in a sense of desperation before we lost it through our lack of passing/moving ability.

I thought 2nd half we were much better on the ball, I don't know if the 'stats' back that up but it appeared that way (watching on TV).

I don't think we are setting out to be a copy of Brighton, passing it around, not losing posession and trying to create space for one incisive pass into the box. We are trying to move the ball forward at pace to use the pace of our forwards a la Spurs. That is bound to be more prone to error than a slower build up. Of course I don't disagree that we lose the ball far to much in midfield when we have just won it back.

What's interesting to me is I don't believe it's really how Cooper would like to play. He found it worked well in the Championship so stuck with it, got accidentally promoted, and now frankly he doesn't have the players and time to develop a team how he'd really like to play. I imagine if we were in the Championship this season we'd have been trying to develop a more possession based game.

Think this seems like wishful thinking, he was playing a counter attacking game at Swansea as well.

When they beat us 5-1 under Houghton, we had 53% possession.
