Sorry to ask the dumbass question, but were we actually good?

  • 26 Apr 2023, 10:17 p.m.

    Yes we were fucking ace!

The fight was there. The quality happened when we needed it and Barry is a god!

MGW showed up. Taiwo is a menace. We missed a penalty. We fought.

I have had several strokes and I have aurally assaulted people at work.

    What a game.

This season is going to kill me.

    Chicago: Drained.

Two boards running at once is the new hoovering!

    Chicago: holding off on pyromania

Let's take a moment to recognise Felipe finally getting his first win as a Forest player. If we stay up I really hope we keep him.

  • 26 Apr 2023, 11:32 p.m.

He’s under contract to the end of next season, isn’t he?

  • 26 Apr 2023, 11:47 p.m.

I like Taiwo, but it still looks like he's playing for a different team, and possibly a different sport.

I went today, thanks to a ticket from Graham's brother, and Karl mark. Thanks to them.

I totally can see why with his physical attributes and attitude, we are persevering with Taiwo. I do think he will come good and be a valuable player ( even if not for us ).

I do not think he is currently the best option in our squad for the way we play. I understand the left side loading, to release through the middle and isolate the opposition wide players against the run of Johnson, and the kick of nico ( hope he is not badly hurt in the long term ). I just don't think he's very good at it. My gut instinct is that he will be much more effective down the middle.

Yes we were good. Always well in the game. Although Navas contributed to their goal ( other players are also allowed to get involved and influence the game when it starts from that far out ), let's not forget that he was already in credit with at least one world class save. I like him a lot. Although I still miss the lunatic. He's the best keeper we've had for a long time.

Dunk is the player that Southgate thinks that Maguire is. Mitoma down their left is world class. We beat a very good side today, and were not terrible value for it.

The timing of MGW getting his mojo back, Danilo settling into his role, and Taiwo coming back, is lovely. Brighton are obviously a terrific side, and maybe the combo of their weekend exertions and the energy, on and off the pitch, in the wfcg, meant they weren’t themselves for the final hour.. but the gap between them and us is huge, and we totally deserved that win. We scored three and could easily have had three three more.

With a decent selection of personnel, and players stepping up, we looked like the team that SSC clearly wants us to be.

I’ve stayed up late and got up early a lot this season.. it’s all worth it to be watching when a game like that happens.

Not bad I would say. We never dominated. But we had decent chances to score 4-5 today. They could also have scored 2-3. Chucking long balls up to Taiwo worked really well. He rarely got them under control, but we mostly picked up the second balls and went from there. Serge did well against Mitimo, who surely is too good for Brighton next season.

Just noticed we're back in the bottom three on Monday unless we get a point or more at Brentford.

Good job we're winning 1-0 then.

Excellent evening, not sure I've known a midweek game like it for atmosphere. It felt like the atmosphere contributed. Up until the penalty miss we were on top, part of the plan appeared to be bring a bit of needle and our chasing kept the pressure consistent as they attempted to play out from within the 18 yard box. However it went flat, and all that stopped for the next half hour as we were happy to surrender possession without any of the harrying that gameplan requires. MGW is key as he is either in or out, if he is motivated the rest of the forward line follow suit and the opposition are always under pressure, when his head drops that stops. The second half was the first time I've seen the changes be a real force for good (how many games have we led but run out loosing?), they were obviously leggy and maybe that was the key factor, but with each change we seemed to get stronger. With 4 sides of the ground on their feet at times the team fed off the crowd and the crowd in turn went again as both powered on in harmony to Depeche Mode land. As a footnote, part of Steve Coopers genius is how he keeps the dressing room on side way beyond the point when most coaches would have been marginalised by the influential players, given our plight and us written off as down you'd expect open revolt these days, but putting Shelvey back in his box and getting the players fired for a first 15 minutes and second half like that is why he is so special.

In other news Russ will be pleased to know I tried a new pre-match ritual yesterday. Parked at the HP end of LB and walked up, went to the chip shop for some excellent chips, curry sauce and battered sausage, had a half time Bovril and remained stone cold sober throughout. If we stay up by 1-3 points I think we can safely say it was my day off the booze that did it.

So to conclude it was the crowd, and particularly Ingo what won it. Thank you's are off the menu, obvs, but feel free to send presents, I'll DM you my address upon request.

As Toffollo was coming on, Frueler was smacking him on the back and shouting encouragement like he really wanted it. No sulking at all and shows what a great togetherness we have. It will certainly help over the next few games.
