I watched this last night

and it's telling that Ornstein makes the same emphasis that he's been told the decision has been led by Syrianos and Edu. Clearly the club have decided it's important to distance Marinakis from this. Whether that's to make us seem more professionally run or because EM just doesn't want him.
I also checked his record yesterday and his teams have scored 295 goals in 294 premier league games. Highest rate was the season after they qualified for Europe (18/19) when they got 45. The year they finished 7th, they somehow only scored 36 (guess who got 10 of each of them).
This is a result and you should all be very pleased.
I'll give him more time than I gave the Sheila. I imagine he'll sort the shambles of a defence out pretty quick, and his forward options are probably better than he's had previously, so some optimism we will avoid the drop with him. I doubt Marinakis would be happy starting next season with him though.
I agree - but then you could get decent odds against any manager lasting more than a season under Marinakis, given the mismatch between his apparent expectations and reality. [Hope / aspiration is one thing; throwing a mardy when real life and unequal finances intervene is quite another].
For me the key - indeed only - thing that matters is that I am pretty confident that the Ginger No-Hair Posse will keep us up. 3 days ago I was very far from confident we could achieve that.
We can moan about style of football when we're safe; until then it's the sort of shite entitled 'Big 6' clubs get up to (+ Everton & West Shams). After all, it's not as though Coops or Nuno played purist Spanish Dancing, and we loved it.
I'm more confident we will stay up but still not confident!
When there was some talk of him getting a "long term" contract, I was assuming that meant longer than this season and next. That's a one year payoff if they decide to change next summer, which, obviously, Marinakis won't think twice about.
He massively overachieved with Burnley. They were never going to be free scoring.
And at Everton a lot of the time he didn’t even have a striker, with Calvert-Lewin out injured and no funds to bring in another.
Feels like this is a straw-man alot of the time (not levelling that against you). As long as we're doing ok I don't think people give a fuck about the style.
Tony Laughlan comes in as well
Wasn't he Roy Keane's assistant?
Yep, and a player briefly, (tied up in a bung story, scorer of a fast goal)
